Kalamata – Weather
Kalamata is located in Greece and enjoys a very warm climate with plenty of sunshine throughout the year. The summer begins in April and lasts until October, boasting warm weather and high temperatures throughout the season. In April, the average temperature is around 20°C and climbs to 24°C in May. Temperatures in Kalamata peak in July and August, rising to 31°C, which is great if you want to soak up the warm sun and work on your summer tan. Prevailing winds blow in from the west and curve in to the bay, which results in winds blowing into town from the south instead. These winds are quite cool and refreshing in the summer, which is great when you need a break from the heat. There’s at least 12 hours of sunshine a day, which is more than enough time to see the sites and explore the beaches.
Rainfall increases in October with heavy storms arriving towards the end of the month. Sea temperatures are around 25°C in August but continue to decrease over autumn and winter, reaching lows of 16°C in February.
The weather in Kalamata is mild in November, with an average temperature high of 20°C that drops to 15°C in December and January. At night, temperatures in Kalamata cool to a chilly 6°C, which means you’ll need to wear a jacket to stay warm.
