Mitsis Alila Resort and Spa

Located on the popular Greek island of Rhodes, the Mitsis Alila Resort and Spa is a lavish all-inclusive property with panoramic Mediterranean vistas. Step directly from the hotel’s tropical gardens onto a sandy beach inviting you to sunbathe or take a dip in its toasty waters. And for paddling of another kind, there’s a duo outdoor pools. It’s an oasis for relaxation, from its state-of-the-art spa facilities to several cocktail spots including a Champagne bar and premium suites.

Speaking of suites, there’s a line-up of 5-star options. Family rooms sleep up to five and feature two sofa beds, a mini-fridge, TV, safety deposit box alongside sea views and air-conditioning. Those with kids can upgrade to a family suite which comes with a swanky whirlpool bath, a mini bar, cosy slippers as well as sunbeds on the terrace. Plus, you can always opt for a private pool when you want to feel like a VIP. Those travelling as a couple can take advantage of superior twins or junior suites which come with their own set of allures including a bubbling hot tub.

Food fanatics won’t be disappointed by the gourmet offerings at this first-rate property. Whether you want to sample a bit of everything from the buffet spread, transport yourself to Asia with fresh sushi rolls, or overindulge on Greek delicacies alongside Tex-Mex cuisine, all of your global favourites are covered. There’s even a creperie to combat your sweet tooth. Drinks-wise, when you’re not enjoying a glass of bubbles at its adult-only Champagne spot, there’s a wine venue and beach shack followed by a further three bars ready with refreshments.

As for facilities, they’re first-class. The main pool is a big seawater number facing the sea decorated with luxurious loungers and towering palms. Little ones will jump for joy when they witness the paddle-friendly option and its mini slides. And when they don’t want to get wet and wild, the kids’ club is on hand for ages four to 11 providing endless entertainment, including a nightly mini disco. But don’t worry, it’s not all about the kids with a spa strictly for grownups. Let your mind and body unwind with a massage, Turkish bath or soak in the sauna. Meanwhile, active-types can make a beeline for the sports courts and fitness centre.

Evenings are made up of cabaret, musicals and live performances. And when you want to go head to head with your nearest and dearest, onsite you’ll find escape rooms challenging you to beat the timer under pressure.

Mitsis Alila Resort & Spa is steps from Kallithea beach and 4km from the centre of Faliraki which is a party paradise. It's also only a short drive from a waterpark teeming with vertical slides and splash zones. But when you’re seeking the ultimate combination of history, restaurants and bars, then Rhodes Town should be your go-to. Here lies several sites of cultural interest, including the UNESCO protected Old Town. To see more of the island's natural beauty, you could take a trip to Lindos, 39km away. The town is nestled on the heart-shaped St. Paul's Bay, with a sandy beach protected by rocky cliffs on either side.

Mitsis Alila disappointed

May 2022 | 758trishs

We were looking forward to our holiday at the Mitsis Alila which I booked last year as a surprise holiday for my daughter's 30th birthday. However we were disappointed that this lovely hotel did not live up to our 5 star expectations. Its a lovely looking hotel right on the beach but, our overall experience definitely wasn't worth the 5 star rating. On arrival we found the reception staff ignored the family in front of us to speak to another guest (an elderly Greek lady) who was having issues with her mobile phone. He had to be reminded that we were all checking in after a very long day and maybe we should have been his priority. The food on the whole was edible but definitely could have been better and hotter in all the restaurants. Eating lukewarm lasagne, salmon, vegetables etc wasn't a pleasurable experience. The hotel also needs to increase it's staff as waiting 45 minutes to have your drinks order delivered by the waitress, or having to ask 3 times for milk for your coffee that by the time it comes your coffee is cold and you can't drink it just isn't good enough. Only being there for a week we would have loved to have spent some time by the pool. Unfortunately the sunbed huggers were out in force and towels at the ready before 7am. While I understand that guests want the best spot, actually leaving your towels and then heading off for the day on a trip coming back in the afternoon to your sunbed should not be allowed to happen. The entertainment at night wasn't very imaginative. A selection of mediocre singers who tried their best with the audience that was around the pool bar. The only highlight of the entertainment was the lady who played the violin, she was very good and something different. On the whole we had a nice time, not spectacular or fantastic just nice. To the young lady who is the waitress in the crepes restaurant l want to say thank you. You were by far the best member of staff we encountered. Very hard working and friendly and polite. Would l go back to the Alila probably not but that is only my opinion. I hope if you decide to go your experience is way better than mine.

Break away, a well deserved 5 stars !

Me and my partner came to the Mitsis Alila hotel for a stay of 7 nights. Our room was beautifully clean and modern and the staff were very welcoming and The hotel is absolutely beautiful! There was a variety of food at the Buffett ranging from the salad bar, fruit bar , daily specials , hot food , fresh bread and the desert station. The buffet food was really Nice with a mixture of different foods to suite everyone’s tastes! Plus the all day pizza bar which is located on the beach front !! We hardly ate at the individual restaurants as when we arrived they was all fully booked unless you are happy to eat around 22.30/ 22.00 so I would advice to book the restaurants before your check in so you don’t miss out. The Asian food and the crepe restaurant was the best , Greek food was nice as was the Italian. Overall the food was 4.5 stars. The pool - well I can say that I have never been in a pool less than this, normally 90% of my time is spent on the pools when going abroad but this was completely different as the pool is absolutely freezing, almost always empty but it was entertaining watching people attempt getting in! The entertainment - we really enjoyed the entertainment which took place every day 21.00 - 23.00pm , although it takes place outside which can get a little breezy! The cocktail bar is really nice to as we’re all the waitresses! Other than that we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning next year although we may use another pool
