If you're looking for beauty, relaxation and leisure, it really doesn't get any better than Cala Galdana holidays. That's all thanks to this resort's clean white sandy beach, gleaming turquoise waters, and great mix of accommodation and restaurants to suit different tastes and budgets.
The shell-shaped cove is overlooked by several bars, restaurants and shops so you can always take a break from the beach if you fancy a beer, a bite to eat, or a new snorkelling kit. Speaking of snorkelling, the water here is also remarkably clear, so when it gets too hot, just pop on your goggles and take a look at the wonderful aquatic life just beneath the surface.
Things to do
From May to September, the Son Martorellet Estate near the main road between Cala Galdana and Ferreries holds excellent equestrian shows twice a week, which are a must-see if you happen to be a horse fan.
If you're interested in exploring some of Menorca's historic sights during your Cala Galdana holidays, then take a day trip to the capital, Mahón, about a 30-35-minute drive away. Here, you can visit the Museo de Menorca (museum) to learn about the island's history. Explore the town's superb markets like the fish market (Mercat del Peix) at Plaça Espanya on Tuesday to Saturday, or the Mercat Artesa de Mahón arts / crafts and food market at Plaça de s'Esplanada on Wednesdays between June and August.
Another place that's definitely worth putting on your holiday itinerary is Faro de Favaritx, an impressive lighthouse with breath-taking coastal views and walking routes. Then there's the Catamaran Sunset Trip, a 2-hour and 45-minute cruise departing from Fornells harbour. Cruise on the dazzling Menorcan coast, stop for a swim and snorkelling session, then enjoy a free drink on the deck as you watch the sunset.

The climate here, like the rest of the island is characterised by long, hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. From around mid-June to mid-September, you can expect daytime temperatures to hover around 26°C to 30°C during the day, and night-time temperatures around 20°C during your holidays to Cala Galdana.

By Bus: The resort is served by three bus routes with direct services to destinations such as Mahón, Alaior, Ciutadella, Es Mercadel, and Ferreries. It's a good idea to check bus times in advance during your holiday, as online timetables may not always be up to date.
By Taxi Hiring a taxi can be a convenient and comfortable way to get around, particularly if you're travelling with lots of luggage from the airport. Always remember to agree the fare before you board.
By car Hiring a car can be a great way to explore Menorca independently and at your own pace. Probably the best place to rent one is at the airport, where you'll find a wide choice of vehicles for your holiday to Cala Galdana.
The Fiestas de Sant Bartomeu in Ferreries: This is a huge fiesta. From brass bands to horse parades, the event draws in massive crowds, and takes place each year on a weekend in late August.
The El Caramelero: Otherwise known as the Tree of Sweets, the kids will love this fun event. This is when children plant branches of trees into a pot and add a mixture of water and sugar into the soil, only to find sweets on the branch the next morning, which they carry across the town.
Holidays to Cala Galdana are perfect if you're looking for long, lazy days on the beach and plenty of water action, visit from mid-June to mid-September. During this time, the sea temperature is warm enough for swimming, peaking in the mid 20°Cs around August. Even in October, the water temperature often remains in the early 20s°C, which is still a lot better than the UK at the height of summer.

Cala’n Bosch’s main beach is really family-friendly, offering everything you could need for a day at the beach. It’s not too big either, so the atmosphere is more calm and relaxing. You’ll spend a lot of time around the marina when you holiday in Cala’n Bosch, as everything happens there. Turquoise water, gorgeous beaches, and wonderful sea views: just three phrases that perfectly sum up holidays to Arenal De En Castell, a Mediterranean paradise on the northern coast of Menorca.
