Bahia Principe Fantasia Tenerife

Bahia Principe Fantasia is a fairytale-inspired resort located on the southern coast of Tenerife, around 14km from Los Cristianos and close to Tenerife South Airport. The brightly painted buildings are set in tree-lined gardens, just 500m from the beach. Golfers will be pleased to know that the nearest course is just 1.5km away.

This family-friendly hotel caters for guests of all ages. For the young children there's fancy dress workshops, games and expeditions, while for the more creative little ones there's crafts and cooking. The Teens' Club, exclusively for teenagers, is ideal for those who would prefer not to remain with their little siblings or parents the whole time. The kids also have their own swimming pools to splash around in, while the infinity pool is exclusively for adults. Choose from five standard pools, including one which is heated in the winter. While you have some peace and quiet maybe indulge in a massage or beauty treatment, sunbathe in the solarium or hit the gym.

In the evening enjoy an exclusive production in the resort's theatre. For guests just wanting to satisfy their appetite the a la carte restaurants will leave them spoiled for choice. The Ladon is named after a fiery dragon, here you can tuck into a succulent steak, fresh from the flames. The hotel's wood fired stove is located in the Italian themed Il Paradiso, meaning hungry mouths won't have long to wait for freshly prepared pizzas. Nemuru is the Japanese word for sleep but you won't want to do that before you have eaten a delicious Oriental dinner, combining traditional recipes and innovative culinary techniques. As you'd expect a range of drinks are available with whatever you decide to eat and these can also be enjoyed throughout the day at numerous conveniently located bars.

There are a variety of room options, catering for different sized families, as well as suiting the needs of those who aren't travelling with children. At Bahia Principe Fantasia you can choose between twin and king sized beds, while you'll have a balcony (some have a sea view), air conditioning, mini-bar and satellite TV. You'll also have a sofa which can convert into an additional bed, allowing up to three adults to share a standard room. If you love being in the water then don't miss out on the option to upgrade to a suite with a swim-up pool.

You can't miss La Teide National Park - literally - the summit is over 3,750m above sea level. Here you can see Paisaje Lunar, which looks like a structure that belongs on the moon but it was in fact formed by volcanic activity. The mountain is one of the best places in the world for stargazing, so if you want to see the Leo constellation or possibly even another planet, there's few places better to observe the night sky from.

Brilliant hotel with friendly staff

May 2022 | Charlp88

We’re just back from a week at this hotel and couldn’t have been more impressed! The staff are a real credit to the hotel. Every single one was so friendly and happy, not to mention great with kids. They honestly couldn’t do enough for you and you were always greeted with a smile and hello from every staff member you pass in a corridor. The hotel itself is very clean and the rooms are huge. We did book a double room and for some reason got two single beds which weren’t attached to each other just pushed together with separate sheets, quilts etc but not enough of an issue to bother complaining. The food at the buffet was good. Some of it wasn’t a great standard but there was so much choice that you could always find something you wanted. Breakfast in particular was great (definitely try the custard pastries). We were disappointed with the Italian (the buffet pizza is better!) but the Asian was really good. We were really impressed with the bars. You get a huge selection of drinks included with the all inclusive package, including great cocktails. Can particulate recommend the Campari Spritz and chocolate martini. The lobby bar area is a lovely place for a pre or post dinner cocktail. The sports bar is great if you want to watch football and you can also get rolls and pizza there. The self serve beer at the pool bars was great and cold. Also nice to just be able to help yourself to soft drinks. Didn’t rate the alcoholic slushies but great selection of other drinks. The pools are obviously the big draw of the hotel and they were just as good if not better than they look in the photos. Each one is spotless and there was so much space in them all. Loved the variety of the splash parks for kids and the bigger pools. Adult infinity pool a nice bonus! Plenty of sun loungers, we were a group of eight and never struggled to get beds together in whatever area we wanted. I was really worried about slippy floors after seeing all the reviews but they were fine and I’m a clumsy person! Yes anti slip shoes are a good idea for kids running around but they would be at any pool. Our local swimming pool is 10 times slipper than this. Some tips: - Request a pool view room if possible - Slip free shoes for kids - They have a full towel hire service so no need to take pool towels - just make sure you return them - Custard pastries for breakfast and the crispiest bacon - Mini disco at 7.30pm is great for little ones - Download the app before you go in and check in to avoid the queues and also so you can start booking things in advance, good to get your Al La Carte meals booked in if you want an earlier time slot for the little ones Negatives: - Lunch service doesn’t start until 1pm and dinner is from 6pm, quite late if you have little kids - Pool bar food is awful (the salad bits were good but the actual burgers etc weren’t great) - Two single beds instead of a double bed - Not loads around but then you should know that before booking so wasn’t an issue for us, we were happy to stay on site. Two in our group regularly got Ubers to Playa Des Americas Finally a big thank you to the hotel for helping reunite us with some lost luggage we left there. We will definitely be back at some point when our son is old enough to enjoy the kids club!

Great Holiday - Excellent Facilities

May 2022 | MCP1874

We(2 adults and toddler who is 20 months) are just back from 9 nights here. The hotel is lovely. We had a master suite which was an excellent size. The bed was extremely comfortable. My only slight concern would be that the headboard was quite low and wooden which could potentially hurt a child if they are playing on the bed or coming in for a cuddle. As other people have said the buffet can be a bit rowdy at times, but that is to be expected in a hotel catered for children. We knew this would be the case and didn’t have any issues with this. There was Always a great selection of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Of course it can be a bit repetitive, but that’s down to the diner in my opinion as you could very easily have something different at every meal. The food was always at a good temperature, of course your food is going to get a bit cold if your adding food from other stations before going back to your seat to eat. I did bang into a few baby chairs, as these have diagonal legs, and when busy there is not a lot of space between tables which isn’t ideal when a baby is feeding. We ate at the Steak and Italian restaurants twice each and were very impressed with the food and service. The dreams snack bar was ok, a bit of a hit and miss with the burgers to be honest. Was also nice to have unlimited mr whippy ice cream. The staff at the hotel are excellent, and work tirelessly to ensure guests have a great holiday. We went to see 3 shows, and I have to say they were absolutely brilliant. The cast members are extremely talented and my son was fixated for 45 minutes at toy circus and carnival. We spent most of our day time around the splash pool which our son loved, it could get a little cold when the wind came in but that’s just due to where the hotel is situated. I agree that the floor around the pool can be sloppy, but we did have pool shoes so it thankfully wasn’t too much of an issue. I do feel that the sports bar could open earlier, there is a lot of sport on early afternoon which couldn’t be viewed as the bar was closed and there was nowhere else to watch this. The lobby bar was very nice and offered a good range of drinks. I do feel that there should be a designated smoking seating area, as a non-smoker with a young family it wasn’t great to have a whole table of smokers lighting up beside you. There is also a club room that you can shower in if you have checked out but have a later flight. I do feel that a booking system on busy days would maybe work better here as it was a bit of a free for all trying to get a shower before we left. Pros - spotless hotel, good food and drink choices. Friendly staff, great entertainment. Cons(none major) not too much around the hotel, smoking areas, head boards, no club room booking. Sports bar opening times. All in all a very positive experience, and we loved our holiday. We would definitely come back here for another holiday

Great, but needs a tweak

May 2022 | Simon C

This is our 7th time at this hotel, we would have been more of covid hadn’t have cancelled 2 of our bookings! Overall we can’t fault the hotel, the rooms are great, modern and fresh. The food is like many others have reported repetitive, but you can’t take the standard away! It’s by far the best all inclusive for the price you’re going to pay unless you try the Ikos group but at twice the cost! There’s a few things that bug us every time we come, but not bad enough to make us not return, but I’ll list them. Check in always takes forever! The air con in the rooms is cool but not cold, if you complain, they reduce it a few degrees, but the lowest it’ll go is 20, if you ask again, they say that 20 is the “ideal temperature”! This is slightly annoying when In a 5* resort as I believe you should be able to choose your own “ideal” temperature. The adult only pool needs to be heated a little more, especially in the winter months, also the music in this area is non existent, just a dull drone in the background mixed with the sound of excited children, again if the music was a little louder, the children wouldn’t be heard in this area! I’m not expecting a disco, just a little more volume. An amazing touch around the adult area would be bed serviced drinks, maybe this could be looked at or maybe even charged as an extra etc The biggest bug bare with this hotel is the lack of an iron in your room! I’ve been to 2-3* with an iron! When called for from reception, unless you’re a lucky one, they just say sorry they’ve all been allocated! Again I’m not been difficult but this is ment to be a 5* resort! Anyway even with all my niggles, this place is a great hotel with lots to offer for all. We’ll see you again soon.
