Pockets full of shells. Ice cream dripping onto sandy toes. And a suitcase crammed with toys, sippy cups and comforting bedtime snugglies. It can only mean one thing – you’re on holiday with a toddler!

An abundance of beautiful beaches, pretty fishing villages and the warmest Mediterranean sunshine have made Cyprus a year-round holiday haven for just about everyone. And yes, that includes tiny travellers! Here’s why it’s one of our favourite places for getaways with toddlers.

Splashing about at Aphrodite Waterpark in Paphos, where there’s plenty for older kids too.

Sharing a table full of Cypriot mezze dishes with the whole family, from halloumi and houmous to barbecued chicken and luscious moussaka – wet wipes at the ready!

Wandering the cobbled streets of Limasssol’s Old Town (plan a rest stop for little legs at the public gardens nearby).

Majorca, Balearic Islands

Ready to pack, fly and flop asap? With short flights and only an hour’s time difference, Majorca’s a top choice for last-minute toddler holidays from April to October. And that’s not to mention the gorgeous beaches, charming Spanish towns, and family-friendly way of life!

Toddlers will love:

All the amazing beaches, such as Calvia, Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa – but there are too many to name them all here!

Algarve, Portugal

Incredibly family friendly, Portugal’s Algarve region is a dream for toddler beach holidays. Long stretches of soft sand slope gradually into shallow sea, perfect for wobbly paddlers and novice castle builders. Plus there’s everything from rockpool minibeasts to wild dolphins to keep animal-mad kiddies happy.

Playing the day away on the beach – Praia do Burgau, Dona Ana and Praia da Rocha are among the best for tiny tykes, though you can’t really go wrong in the Algarve.

Toddlers will love:

Firing space cannons on the Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast attraction or soaring on a magic carpet, just like Aladdin and Princess Jasmine.

Disney’s Philharmagic, an enchanting 4D animated show – and you’ll be blown away too!

Stepping through the White Rabbit’s Hole for a wander through Alice’s Curious Labyrinth all the way to Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Parents and caregivers will love:

Disney’s fab queue-jumping, Rider Switch and pushchair rental services – they make visiting with a toddler so much easier.

Getting caught up in the dazzling parades and feeling like a kid again.

Hitching a lift on the old cars of Main Street USA or riding in a horse-drawn tram. It’s enough to put a huge smile on anyone’s face!

Where to stay… the supremely child-orientated Grand Magic Hotel in Marne la Vallee Chessy. You can hop on the free shuttle bus straight to Disneyland Paris from here, then catch up on your zzz’s in connecting themed rooms.
