This family friendly resort is just 150m from the sandy Paralia Kallitheas Beach, on the eastern coast of Rhodes. The little travellers can enjoy a splash around in one of the two pools that are just for the young guests. There’s also a children’s play area and a kids club to keep them happy and out of mischief. Meanwhile, the grown ups can relax by the main swimming pool or partake in a game of volleyball, darts or giant chess.
The main restaurant, Dionysos, offers buffet meals including three themed dinners per week. If you want to sample the local food, pay a visit to Ambrosia, which serves a set menu, as well as a buffet. Seafood lovers won’t want to miss Nemesis, with its rooftop dining experience featuring all your favourite fish dishes. Fresca is open all day, serving pizza, burgers, sandwiches, ice cream and much more. Ideal if you want a light lunch or if you get peckish between meals. A wide selection of drinks are served both poolside and in the lobby.
Double rooms at Virginia Family Resort are a generous 25m2, with both a double and single bed, as well as a 32” TV. Deluxe Doubles offer even more space and a 40” TV. For families and groups there’s junior suites and two bedroom options, both of which can accommodate up to six guests. For an even more luxurious stay, consider booking a Suite with Jacuzzi®, that also boasts a second TV.
The hotel is just 4km from Kalithea Springs, where sightseeing and relaxation can be combined. Admire the beauty of the restored spa buildings, originally built by the Italians in 1928. For those interested, an exhibition gives you the full history of the site. Afterwards, relax with an ice cold drink on a sunbed or go for a swim in the open waters.
And while you’re on the island, you can’t miss the Old Town of Rhodes (under 6km away). Here, you may choose to admire the beautiful mosaics on display at the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights. If you’re a history lover, you shouldn’t miss the archaeological museum. Still have plenty of energy left? Enjoy a stroll out to the St Nicholas Fortress, stopping off at the old stone windmills on the way.

great for families
There was unpleasant surprise on my family arrival to the hotel, left side of the hotel was without power, so no light, no aircon. Reception told us that they are working on the fix, but exact time of repair is unknown. It was fixed around 2 or 3 o'clock after midnight. Also instead of the room in the main building, as stated in my booking, we got a room in the backyard building, although I am not sure of the real room quality difference, which was ok. There were quite many mosquitos and after we tried to knock them, we got red spots everywhere on the white walls, that was really disappointing. There was no table tennis contrary to the travel agency advertisement. Kids car racing area was also empty, not available. Restaurant food was very good, a lot of choices, different menu every day, draft light beer, red and white wine served from the self-service tank, all of them quite good to my taste. Beach was a bit far away, down the hill, nothing special. There were several nice pools in the hotel territory, but often hard to find free bed to lay down and nobody cares for the rule not to reserve beds by putting towels and going away for a long time, this should be checked more strictly by hotel staff. Free ice cream before the lunch was really good for the kids and me too. Hotel itself is a bit far from anything else, need to catch a taxi to go to the old city. Car parking in front of the hotel is full of nails, we rented a car and luckily tires were not damaged.
Can’t fault it
Arrived and was given rooms. One pool room one double room and one family room, all clean and tidy upon arrival but in the family room the patio area needed some major work, ants all over there and inside the doors! Outside the family room and double room was the pool some sun beds needed attention. All staff friendly and very hardworking. 3 birthdays while there and had a cake for them all can’t thank staff enough! Special thanks to all cleaners who went above and beyond, one child had brought a large bear who the cleaners put into bed every day. My own child was actually approached by the cleaner on departure and given the biggest cuddle which she still talks about months later! Hotel is slightly out if the way but busses just at the end of the road but lots are full. Only negative is we couldn’t book into the a la carte and we were there for 2 weeks was fully booked. Private pool was freezing but was bearable most days. Pool bar staff was lovely special mention to Dora who was working so hard always had time for a chat! Special thanks to all who made our trip one to remember
Family trip Oct 22
Booked as a last min trip the day before we didn’t have time for expectations. What we found was a very clean well organised hotel with helpful and kid friendly staff. The food was fresh and plentiful at each meal. Lots of local produce and plenty of choice. We had a night in the Greek Restaurant which has a set menu. Excellent starters and main, limited dessert. One of our party is vegetarian and was a little disappointed with her main after a great starter. The underground Gyros served every day at the snack bar is a pro choice. Drinks wise. Pretty limited on the all inclusive front for the price to be fair. That could be improved on and would make a big difference. The pools are clean and the main one is huge. Very cold but once your in its bearable for 15 mins or so. Certainly wakes you up. The kids loved the water slide! The grounds felt like as they were coming to the end of the season and had cut back on the daily work. Very particular about my hotel grounds so I notice these things. We went on the 20th oct and there was no entertainment at all. We felt it was busy enough they could have kept it on. Don’t get me wrong, I like Dua Lipa as much as the next man but it felt like they had her songs on loop at the poolside bar for the week we were there. Again this day time music can be improved easily and in this day and age at virtually no extra cost. Overall we had a really nice time and the rooms and facilities are as advertised.
