Hotel THe Lago Taurito
2769 reviews
Nestled between Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán, Hotel THe Lago Taurito boasts a prime location surrounded by the laid-back charms of Playa Taurito. Backed by Gran Canaria’s volcanic cliffside and just metres from the Atlantic, the hotel’s secluded setting offers the perfect mix of serenity and family fun.
Soak up the island’s year-round heat from the sprawling main pool. Overlooking the beach, this roomy number is surrounded by loungers and parasols. Holidaying with kids? They’ll have their very own shallow section to splash around in alongside an activity pool kitted out with a pirate ship and mini slides. While teens and big kids alike will love racing down the Kamikaze or taking a spin in the Space Bowl at the onsite waterpark, which is completely free to hotel guests!
And if that wasn’t enough fun for one day, just wait until you see the entertainment programme. There are two kids’ clubs, one for children aged between four to 12 and another for teens aged 12 to 18. If you prefer to stay active on your travels, you won’t be short of ways to burn off some energy with tennis courts, volleyball nets, a ten-pin bowling alley and mini golf course all on hand. Those looking for something a little different will be excited to discover the archery range - a hotel highlight.
After a day of action, the all-inclusive buffet will be waiting with its tasty show-cooking. Tuck into stir-fried favourites with a visit to the wok station, fill up on carbs at the pasta corner or make the most of the kids’ section. You can grab breakfast, lunch and dinner here, or you can enjoy a great range of snacks including toasties and burgers from the poolside bar. Open from 10am to 6pm, there’s plenty of drinks on offer too, whether you’re after a refreshing fizzy drink, a coffee or cocktail. But don’t worry, when the snack spot closes the night bar opens with beverages being served until 11pm. Then, it’s time to sit down for the evening show at Arena Plaza, which could be anything from tribute acts to West End-inspired performances.
As for rooms, you’ve got cosy doubles perfect for couples and family spaces sleeping up to five guests with a separate living area. All stays come with air-conditioning, telephone, fridge, safe, satellite TV and terrace. For the ultimate upgrade, choose a sea-facing room.

Fantastic hotel ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
IGNORE ANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS. This hotel was fantastic, just returned from 7 nights and honestly it was perfect. After reading some negative reviews I was apprehensive but honestly, upon arriving my worries were soon at ease. Staff are so lovely and friendly, hotel is clean, spacious and welcoming. The food is great, lots of variation (pizza, multiple pasta dishes, steaks, fish, potatos, salad bars, seafood, breads, chicken, stews, rice, Spanish specialities etc). So much to do, great for family holidays and the pool area with snack bar is great. All inclusive drinks are spot on for the price. Waterpark is brilliant fun and kids entertainment is fab! There are lots of shops around the hotel including a supermarket. What you get for the price is more than enough. Very glad to have stayed here Thankyou for a lovely week full of memories.
Fab holiday, def recommend!
Just back from 11 nights away at Lago Taurito. I honestly cannot believe the bad reviews people are leaving - did they think this was a 5 star hotel? We were a bit apprehensive about booking at first when i read some of the reviews but then there was more good reviews than bad so I think people leaving a bad review must be the fussiest of fussy people!! This is a 3* hotel and yes the rooms are a bit dated and a few things in the room were falling apart but the the communal areas of the hotel were nice and modern and everything else was brilliant - food was really good, fresh, plenty choice, always some fresh fish, veg, fruit, various salads, meat dishes, rice, for kids - chips, pasta, chicken nuggets etc all the usuals. Plenty choice in my view and not too repetitive either. Loads of cleaners everywhere cleaning the place, rooms pretty clean - no complaints there. Didnt see a single cocroach. The water park was brilliant, we all loved it and spent a lot of time on the slides and in the pools which were huge! Yes it has salty water in it but it wasnt a problem for us (3 kids aged 6,9,11). The all incl was as expected - local wine and beer you might get sick of a bit, but cans of beers and wine pretty cheap in the local supermarket. You couldnt have your all incl drinks in the water park which was a downside. Ice cream - again just local stuff, as in any all incl. Entertainment on the night - on every night apart from monday. Kids disco 8:15pm till 9, then adult entertainment, singers, dancers, acrobatics show, magicians. Some were excellent, some of the live singers not so much. The whole resort goes quiet at 11pm, its a proper family orientated place. There isnt anywhere to go for a walk really only around the resort but we took the local bus 33 to Amadores beach and to Puerto Rico and Playa de Ingles and that was totally fine - nice day trips. Beach is literally 5min walk, dark sand but fine. Nice big waves a couple of days which we loved jumping/swimming in. Amadores beach 7min on the local bus is amazing yellow sand. There are plenty of shops in the resort to buy anything you need - food, clothes, all inflatables etc etc. Cash machines charge a lot to withdraw cash and bad exchange rate so bring your own euros if you want to save a bit of cash. Overall - one great holiday. Do not believe the bad reviews unless youre a total fuss pot and visit this resort - it's great! :-)
Overall good
The water park is great. It’s everything you can want for the kids. Beware though that the the snack bar in the water park is not included in the all inclusive price. The rooms are a bit tired but pretty much what I’d expect from a busy kids hotel however the cleaners were very good and it always looked clean and tidy when we got back after our day out. The food was wholesome with plenty of choice for both adults and kids. Only other thing to watch out for is that on checkout day if you have an afternoon pick up and want to use the time for one more go in the water park you will be charged as you have checked out.
