Nestled between Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán, Hotel THe Lago Taurito boasts a prime location surrounded by the laid-back charms of Playa Taurito. Backed by Gran Canaria’s volcanic cliffside and just metres from the Atlantic, the hotel’s secluded setting offers the perfect mix of serenity and family fun.
Soak up the island’s year-round heat from the sprawling main pool. Overlooking the beach, this roomy number is surrounded by loungers and parasols. Holidaying with kids? They’ll have their very own shallow section to splash around in alongside an activity pool kitted out with a pirate ship and mini slides. While teens and big kids alike will love racing down the Kamikaze or taking a spin in the Space Bowl at the onsite waterpark, which is completely free to hotel guests!
And if that wasn’t enough fun for one day, just wait until you see the entertainment programme. There are two kids’ clubs, one for children aged between four to 12 and another for teens aged 12 to 18. If you prefer to stay active on your travels, you won’t be short of ways to burn off some energy with tennis courts, volleyball nets, a ten-pin bowling alley and mini golf course all on hand. Those looking for something a little different will be excited to discover the archery range - a hotel highlight.
After a day of action, the all-inclusive buffet will be waiting with its tasty show-cooking. Tuck into stir-fried favourites with a visit to the wok station, fill up on carbs at the pasta corner or make the most of the kids’ section. You can grab breakfast, lunch and dinner here, or you can enjoy a great range of snacks including toasties and burgers from the poolside bar. Open from 10am to 6pm, there’s plenty of drinks on offer too, whether you’re after a refreshing fizzy drink, a coffee or cocktail. But don’t worry, when the snack spot closes the night bar opens with beverages being served until 11pm. Then, it’s time to sit down for the evening show at Arena Plaza, which could be anything from tribute acts to West End-inspired performances.
As for rooms, you’ve got cosy doubles perfect for couples and family spaces sleeping up to five guests with a separate living area. All stays come with air-conditioning, telephone, fridge, safe, satellite TV and terrace. For the ultimate upgrade, choose a sea-facing room.

Rooms
We spent 9 days in this hotel. From the 2nd of January till the 10 .The location amazed us.
The room was basic but cleaned every day, staff was friendly and helpful. We are Hungarians that was a pleasure to meet with Diana the Hungarian receptionist, who was really helpful when she changed our room to a family room. The location amazed us, everything was so close, pool waterpark, beach, shops, pharmacy. The weather was spot on, all week sunny and 24 degree. Kids enjoyed the evening entertainment, and the pool! Beach of course. Only the food was a bit undercooked, but large selection and choice every day. You won't get hungry. My husband was poorly, only enjoyed the last 3 days when got better, it's just bad luck. We really like to go back in the future, loved that sunny weather, rain not exist there, even January. Oh and try the krabi spa it's amazing and cheap, they have massage treatments, jakuzzi, steam room and sauna. Excellent.
Stay away
This hotel was buildt in 1990 and never been oppgrated. The rooms and beds was terrible. The food was at all time overcooked. 90 % English guests with 60% kids. The noise level in the restaurant was a desaster. Can not be recomended.
3* simple but pleasant
Stayed here from 26/12/22 to 05/01/23 I was worried we were not going to enjoy it here due to reading so many bad reviews, but honestly - loved every minute of it. Considering this was loads cheaper on jet2 than any other hotel , it still delivered a great holiday for all. Food not amazing , but plenty of it and everyday you had something that you liked. Kids enjoyed bottomless ice creams. Snack bar at the pool was also super handy with all the kids. Not once an upset stomach or anything like that , which is normally likely anywhere abroad. Rooms kept exceptionally clean by hotels cleaners. Shared entertainment area was also great and very lively every night with some great shows. NYE gala dinner was absolutely superb for a 3* hotel , there was so much nice food. Hotel does need repairs here and there , elevators do mess around quite a bit , but if you are not grumpy moany type, then you won’t look for problems where you don’t need to. I have to mention animation team , Gabriel in particular ,as he is such a character!! They all just work really hard and put smiles on peoples faces with entertainment and daily activities , kids loved the kids club which was twice most days for an hour or so Overall I do recommend as its not a bank breaker like some of other hotels , especially over festive period, and hotel was enjoyed by all and location was perfect.
