Sol Katmandu Park & Resort

For a fun-inclusive Spanish getaway, book a stay at Sol Katmandu Park & Resort, the only hotel on Majorca with its own theme park. Located within the beautiful hotel gardens are a large lagoon-style pool and a shallower circular option for children to splash around in. These are surrounded by spacious terraces with sunbeds, all just 250m from Magaluf Beach.

The hotel's own Katmandu Park offers fun for the whole family. Join the adventures of an abandoned ginger kitten named Thunder in The House of Magic. Negotiate the laser barrier to gain access to Kilgore Goode's robots. Get wet at the Splash Park, featuring numerous twisting slides and more than 150 interactive water elements. Watch the characters jump out at you in the 4D experience, or dare to take a XD ride into a zombie apocalypse. The infants haven't been forgotten either, they can join the mythical kingdom of Katopia at the soft play centre, or they can sing and dance with the mascots. While mini golf is available for all ages. For a surcharge the resort's professional photographer can capture the kids enjoying themselves, an ideal souvenir for Gran's mantlepiece.

The hotel's themed buffet restaurant serves delicious dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner to satisfy even the most discerning diners, including specials for kids and babies. Snacks at the Pool Bar are also included for all-inclusive guests, in addition to a great choice of drinks. The Legend's Lounge offers a comfortable and spacious place to enjoy an evening refreshment, while the Snack Shack dishes up American themed bites.

All rooms feature Wi-Fi, a 40” TV with satellite channels, a minibar and safe. The Xtra Katmandu suites not only have enough space for a family, they have a children's character theme and play area. Even the television is disguised to look like a porthole window.

You'll have plenty of choice when it comes to beaches in Majorca, especially around Magaluf and the rest of the island's south western coast. Stroll along the promenade and you’ll find two more sandy stretches closer to the nearby resort town of Punta Negra. The capital city of Palma, is just 17km from the hotel, making a day trip possible. Don't miss the famous seafront cathedral, afterwards explore the Old Town's cobbled streets or head into the Arabic quarter, which is known for its art galleries and boutiques.

Lovely stay

I won’t lie, I never read any of the reviews before going here. I booked the hotel based on the water park and emphasis on kids entertainment from the descriptions and photos online. I’ve just read some of the bad reviews and I can’t get over it. Most reviews are complaining about other guests - it’s not the hotels fault that some parents allow their kids to run feral is it. I stayed for four nights last week. Only thing I can really complain about is the weather. Unfortunately really overcast and rained for two days. But my 4yo went to the soft play which she loved and allowed me and her auntie to have some drinks and chill at the lobby bar. Also there is a kids club which we put her in from 11am-12.45pm most days and they made little cookies, got taken over to soft play and made bracelets and hats. My daughter loved it! The entertainers are so lovely and great with the kids. The kids disco started at 8.30 every night which I found appropriate considering it left families enough time to get showered, get dinner then come and get ready for the evening entertainment. Adult entertainment started after about 9.45pm each night. We had magicians (not kiddy style - more adult based) but my daughter still loved that. Also some really cool dancers one night. There was a function band one night which wasn’t my thing but they were good! Singing old classics. The water park was great also but I didn’t realise you get limited on time. Same with soft play. If you get there at 10.20am you only have til 11am (on the hour slots). So beat get there on the hour to get a full hours worth. The rooms were basic. Ours was anyway but think I paid for basic. We got to the hotel at 3am on Sunday morning so no one around other than one guy on front desk who I can’t say was helpful at all unfortunately. I get it was late but wow… he wasn’t chirpy or welcoming really. I was stood there for about 20 mins with a very tired 4 year old while he faffed about. I would have thought he would be ready for us. I booked a room for me and my daughter and my sister booked onto the holiday a few weeks later so had her own seperate room. We both have the same surname and got there on the same transfer. I had also emailed to ask for rooms on the same floor at least beforehand. The guy put me and my daughter on floor 5 and said my sister was floor 7…. I said can she be moved to a room on my floor and he said no because my floor was family rooms…. Well my room was tiny. Literally walk in, bathroom on your left and two single beds together straight after with a balcony. Tv on the wall. Room was all we needed to be fair but it was small. I will complain that there was no mirror to be seated at. So make up to be done in a steamy bathroom mirror… not ideal. Also my floor wasn’t all family rooms…. It was the exact same as my sisters two floors up so really we could have been put on the same floor but it is what it is. When we arrived at 3am the guy also made me send him my hotel booking…. All I had was the On The Beach confirmation online. He made me screenshot and email it to him?! Didn’t offer is the WiFi to do so, in fact he didn’t mention WiFi at all or breakfast times or anything. Had to use my 4g and be charged to send over my booking which he should have already had. Not great at 3am tbh. No water in the rooms and no offer of water when we got there. Obviously best not to drink the tap water so this was annoying. There are vending machines that charge €3 a bottle of water which I never got my change from haha so the machine ate a €5 note. The food was actually so nice I really don’t understand the complaints on this. Massive selection. Even a station of baby food in jars if you need it. Fresh juice etc. the chefs are great and there are two stations included in the dining room where there are special dishes made. The desserts…. Wow. Amazing. The all inclusive drinks were also great and there’s a snack section outside by the pool also. The bar hy the pool is great, staff were lovely. We didn’t have any issue with staff at all, were all so lovely except the bloke that checked us in! There’s a British guy that works on reception I think, also a lovely bloke. Only downside is the guy who checked us in, and sometimes it can be a bit noisy if you’re facing the street as I didn’t realise we were in main ‘Maga’ pubs and clubs all around. Not so bad we couldn’t sleep though, only when people walk past the hotel! Beach close by and is a lovely spot! Soft sand, daughter loved it. Charge for sunbeds of course.

Great Hotel for Kids.

The Last Time I was at Magaluf I was on Holiday with a few Friends and I was about 18 years Old. After Nearly 3 Years of Waiting to Take our Eldest Grandchild to This Hotel, we finally went. Instead of Cancelling it as we did with Our Own Little Holiday to Cyprus that was Cancelled about a Week or so before we should of gone. Because of COVID 19 when we were Due to go, we couldn’t go because of Covid Laws. So We kept putting this back a couple of Times at a Cost each time of £120 we did that because We Knew that our Eldest Grandchild would love this Hotel and we were spot on. My wife and I had Read quiet a few Reviews on here about This Hotel. Some of Them were Terrible Reviews But before COVID we had been to many other hotels abroad and some of those had a few Terrible reviews too but when we stayed in About all of The Ones that had some Terrible reviews, We found The Hotels to be Fine. I said to My Wife forget about those Reviews, Remember we have been in this position before and The Hotels that had some Terrible Reviews we’re all Fine. To be completely Honest We Found This Hotel To Be Fine. The Food had a few Bad Reviews But We Thought the food Was OK. Yes it won’t win any Michelin Stars but The Food is Plentiful and Edible, No one Staying here would Starve, that is including Very Picky Eaters. I can understand why some reviews said that The Food was Predictable because if at Dinner Fish was on The Menu then The Next Day Fish Curry was on The Menu etc etc This is a Good Way to use perfectly Edible food instead of Throwing it away. Plus it is Very Good Business Sense. Our Room, was a Tad on The Small Size but we managed not to bump into each other all Week. When you unpack your Suitcases, There is Very Little Space for your Clothes to go. We had already read this so we only unpacked a few clothes, The Rest We left in our suitcases and when we need anything we got it out of a Suitcase. We Used One Suitcases for Our Dirty Clothes. Reception was Pretty Straight Forward but thinking about it p, they could of given us more information about The Splash Pool and Theme Park. When we were walking about the hotel grounds, We saw a Map of The Hotel Grounds, they were at The Crazy Golf Kiosk, so we got one of those to Navigate around The Hotels Grounds. We didn’t Receive a Map when we booked in, Maybe when People are being Booking in, Giving Them a Map would be a good idea. All inclusive doesn’t included going around The Crazy Golf Circuit, That you have to pay for Tickets, like Some of The Stuff on The Theme Park. All inclusive Guests get One Hour Free Each Day to go into The Splash Park. But you could buy Tickets if you wanted another Hour later. That is only open from 12 midday until 6pm. The First People are admitted into The Splash Pool at 12 Midday and At about 10 to 1 The People that are in are Stopped and Asked to leave, So that The Next People are admitted into The Park for Their Hour. Our Grandson Carson, Loved That Place. Before you go, I’ll give All The Kids Parents, Grandparents, Guardian Peace of Mind. In The Splash Pool, There are at Least 4 Lifeguards watching The Kids constantly. It is The Same With The Swimming Pool At Least 4 lifeguards around There Too. Pool Towels are available from Reception. @ a cost of €10 Refundable. At Reception, you give your Room number and Name. They give you a Slip of Paper that you must Keep safe because at The End of Your Holiday. you hand in your Towels to The Lifeguards at The Swimming Pool. If in between for whatever reason you want to change your Pool towels, or to Have them washed, There is a Cost of either €1 or €2 Each. I will Now Give you Our Eldest Grandsons, Carson’s Review of This Hotel, Carson is 9 years old. He Loved The Splash Pool, Swimming Pool. He Liked The House. Food Was Ok. He Liked The Bouncy Castles. He didn’t want to leave and one day when it his his Turn to go abroad with Nana and Grandad again, He hopes that we take him back There. Now, Mine and Kaz’s Summery. Good Hotel. Food Ok. Small But Very Clean bedrooms. 99.99% of The Hotels Staff we came into contact with Were Welcoming, Very Polite. I was In Shock when I saw that They Did have Strongbow Cider on Draught. I had read it on a Review before we went, I like cider more that Beer and Lager. I have never seen That in any of The Hotels Bars abroad that we have ever stayed in. Now for The Worst Thing about This Hotel. We had read quite a few Reviews before we went, On One Review Someone had Commented Something like The Hotel is Ok It is The British Guests That are The Worst Thing about Here. We both have to admit that Whoever wrote that was Correct. Just a few examples for you. Everyone’ Jokes about it is The Germans Getting up at The Crack of Dawn so they can go and put Their Towels on The Best Sun-beds to Reserve them. Even Though Signs around The Pool say “No Reserving Sun Beds Allowed “ Here it is The British That are Constantly Doing That. It is The Same with Queue Jumping, A few Times I was in a Queue Waiting at the Bar to get us some Drinks, Some People obviously don’t think they should have to join a Queue but Me been in Me I had to point out that this was in fact a Queue, I was met with it doesn’t say that I have to Join a Que anywhere around here. That about said it all about Us English People. Sadly Judging By That, it is No Wonder We Still Get Bad Names for Ourselves. There are a Few Big about Signs at The Pool Bar and Where you can get some food throughout The Day. The Signs Clearly say in English No Food is Allowed Around The Pool Area”. (The Signs say that in a Few Foreign Languages too) Guess Which Nationality We’re The Main People that Disregarded The Sign and Took Food to The Sun-loungers aroundThe Pool Area. Plus No Glass is allowed around The Pool area for obvious Reasons But That Rule was Disregarded too.

Fantastic hotel - highly recommended

Spent a week at this hotel with our 5 year old grandson - what a wonderful hotel to take him to! Loads to do (10 visits to the upside down house!!!!), soft play, splash park, 4D adventures, lots of entertainments, fantastic kids club ….. the hotel was immaculately clean, we were given a high floor sea view room ( which was lovely) and all staff were warm and friendly. Never having visited Magaluf before we were very pleasantly surprised by how nice a resort it is with gorgeous and very clean beach. Visited Pirate Adventure which was incredible (although we were packed in like sardines!). Would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling with kids
