Sol Pelicanos Ocas
10273 reviews
Sol Pelicanos Ocas is a family-friendly hotel in Benidorm, one of the best known resorts on the Costa Blanca in the south east of Spain. The hotel is a short stroll away from Levante Beach, a popular stretch of sand that's particularly suitable for young families because of its gently sloping shore and shallow water. At Sol Pelicanos Ocas, there are three outdoor swimming pools. The main pool has three open-air Jacuzzis and is surrounded by a sun terrace dotted with palm trees and Roman-style columns, giving it a tropical feel. In the activity pool, the hotel offers daily activities such as volleyball, water polo, aerobics and gymnastics. Sol Pelicanos Ocas has two buffet restaurants and five bars, one of which is a swim-up bar, allowing you to sip your drink while relaxing in the pool. The hotel provides entertainment several nights a week. You could also head out for a stroll along the promenade behind Levante Beach, which is lined with restaurants and bars, or make the walk or short drive into the centre of Benidorm. Within driving distance of the hotel, in and around Benidorm, are family-friendly attractions like a history-themed park, a water park and 15 golf courses.
Sol Pelicanos Ocas is a 350m walk from popular Levante Beach. In the centre of Benidorm, 2km from the hotel, you can take a walk down to the Balcon del Mediterraneo, a rocky viewpoint that extends into the Balearic Sea. You could also go on a more challenging hike to La creu, a hilltop wooden cross, or around Sierra Helada Natural Park, filled with limestone rock formations and pine forests. The historic city of Alicante, at the heart of the Costa Blanca, is a possibility for a day trip. Its main attractions include Santa Barbara Castle, which is perched on a hilltop overlooking the town, and a bustling harbour.
The two buffet restaurants at Sol Pelicanos Ocas are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There's also a snack bar serving lighter meals such as pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches and salads throughout the day, as well as five bars providing soft and alcoholic drinks to keep you refreshed during the day.
The hotel runs a kids' club for children aged 5 to 12 from mid-summer to early autumn. There's also a playground and two kids' pools.
The hotel has two pool areas. At the Sol Pelicanos building lies the large lagoon-shaped swimming pool with three jacuzzis. There is also a children's pool and activity pool as well as an inviting swim up bar. At the Sol Ocas building there is an additional pool, children's pool and a poolside bar.
Rooms at Sol Pelicanos Ocas are contemporary with modern furnishings. All come with Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a TV with satellite channels.

Great Holiday, brilliant pool area and fantastic location.
We stayed for 9 nights all inclusive as a family of 4. We arrived later in the evening so no issues with check in which was pleasant. We were on the 5th floor in the Ocas building which was great. If we did have to wait for the lift it wasn't too far to go on the stairs if you decided to use them. We were in time to grab a quick drink after our delayed journey which was welcomed. We did witness an incident on the first night unsure what happened but a female proceeded to throw the cardboard cups into the pool in a rage then threw the chairs into the pool then went to attack the security guard with one! I did wonder what on earth we had walked into but it was very quickly resolved by staff and security. The room in the Ocas didn't have a balcony just a window which is what we wanted as we have a toddler and was concerned about this so it suited us fine. They are on the small side, not really enough room for 4 people, but there was plenty of wardrobe and storage space and the beds were really comfortable, the rooms were clean and the maid came every day and did a fantastic job. The air con is heaven sent as it was very hot most days. There is also a fridge to keep a few things cool. on the first part of our stay there wasn't really a queue for the restaurant but as we entered the second week you could tell it was getting into peak season, having said that we didn't really wait that long when there was a queue. The food is as you would expect for AI, there was plenty of choice at breakfast for everyone as my youngest is a fussy eater but found something for her. There is always plenty and the omelettes are delicious. The snack bar is great fries, chicken nuggets, salads, burgers, hot dogs plenty of snacky things. The lunch is also good. Dinner in the evenings is good again always something you can have, i tend to stay away from meat abroad but my other half will try anything and so ate the different types of fish on offer and had a good variety every night. Plenty of salads, cheeses, meats, potatoes, pizza, pasta. The cocktails are good and my eldest loved the mocktails. There can be a little bit of disregard on getting food from other people tend to dart in front of you come across you but just need to be patient. The pool is the greatest asset I would say, you may struggle to get a space with a parasol if you leave it later but we didn't struggle for a lounger really we are not that precious so if there wasn't any loungers we would return a bit later and got one okay. The pool was warm and not too deep, plenty of entertainment aqua aerobics and inflatables and games for the kids and adults. The area around the snack bar does smell a little possibly a drain issue but that's the only place you only notice it if you are sunbathing there really. The entertainment in the evening is good but on a little late for the kids and mainly in Spanish but they do repeat a bit in English which is no issue but my youngest didn't really understand what she was doing when they were dancing again no issue she still enjoyed it, will have to teach her some Spanish, it is Spain after all. There is a kids club which looked fun but my kids were happy in the pool so didn't use it. We headed out a few nights to Valentines to watch Crissy Rock and other acts they had that was good and went to Mateo's bar where the man himself was so that made my daughters holiday as the whole reason for staying at this hotel is because she is obsessed with the series. It is in a great location 5 mins to the beach, 20 mins to the Old Town, if going out on the weekends with kids it can get a bit rowdy going into the nightlife area, during the week it was okay. As for staff JUAN from the restaurant was very friendly, professional and helpful, the staff all work so hard here, DANIEL from the bar always had a smile on his face and was so pleasant despite working long hours in that heat! Every credit to them. Reception staff were always helpful and friendly. There was only one female behind the bar that I found a bit rude shall we say when it was completely unnecessary, I am very polite and would always treat people with respect but on a few occasions when I went to the bar she was stern and quite rude I decided to brush this off really but I think her customer service needs improvement. Overall I would recommend staying here, we had a lovely holiday the kids enjoyed it and it was a pleasant place to stay and we do like nice hotels when we go away for the price couldn't really fault it.
Pleasant but not 5*
Hotel lovely but felt the dining area was too much like a cafe . Good choices were amazing and fresh every meal . Hotel rooms nice but lack of tea bags and milk was poor so couldn't have a cuppa on a morning . Evening entertainment was not great and compared to H10 chain no comparison . Look lovely and beautiful rooftop area for adults . The sunbed situation was spot on . If you weren't in he beds after a certain time your towels were taken off which all hotels should follow . So no problem getting a lounger any time as there were plenty for everyone and so comfy . The aqua aerobics and fitness but was brilliant and got us all dancing in the pool . Had a lovely relaxing holiday but think I would try the gran Victoria next .
Sol Pelicanos - avoid it’s not ‘all that’
My daughter and I booked a last min 5 day half board break (this was the only board basis available) to Benidorm. On late arrival reception staff were rude and sent us wrong way with heavy bags down a flight of stairs to the Ocas building. Rooms are spacious, it has a fridge, tv and balcony, shower pressure is terrible and temperature is very hot then cold so be careful. Security is poor anyone can walk in and out of reception on an evening. Day 2 breakfast queue was through reception out of the door …..! was fine for fruit , toast but rest of cooked breakfast wasn’t any good at all Day 2 Dinner … appalling overcooked and tasteless… Day 3 full day in bed due to food poisoning, sweats aches pains and the rest ! Day 4 avoided all food at Sol pelicans and spent day with friends at Calypso hotel ( highly recommended ) Day 5 Went to Guadalest and algae waterfalls ( great day ) Been to Benidorm 4 times and this is the most expensive and worst experience I would never go back to this hotel.
