Olympic Lagoon Resort

Olympic Lagoon Resort Paphos boasts a prime coastline location on a Blue Flag beach. Swim in one of the five themed lagoon swimming pools or relax amongst the vast, landscaped tropical gardens. Meanwhile your children can join one of the clubs with activities tailored for their age group, whether they are at nursery or will be taking their GCSEs next year.

To keep fit, challenge your partner to a game of tennis or have a five-a-side football match against another family. The indoor fitness centre offers a complete range of equipment, including state of the art cardio machinery and weights. If you don’t want to exercise alone, join one of the group classes.

Those seeking ultimate relaxation must check out the alluring selection of treatments and massages available at the Spa. Or just make use of the sauna, steam bath and heated indoor swimming pool available to guests.

The Royal Olympic offers a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner serving international cuisine with different theme nights. There’s also a special selection for the kids to enjoy. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Diner provides an American style experience, while there are also Italian and pan-Asian options. Those preferring local Cypriot dishes should book a table under the evening sun at the Captain’s Deck. The Snackeria offers bites and light meals from 10:30 to 18:00 daily.

When you wish to cool off with a drink you will have a choice of five bars, including indoor and outdoor swim-up options. You & Me welcomes accompanied children until 10pm, after which it’s adults only.

Even the smallest rooms are a generous 29m2 and are either big enough for three guests or equipped with a large King Bed for two people. They each have WiFi, air conditioning/heating, a balcony, a digital TV and a safe. Tea & coffee making facilities and bottled mineral water are replenished daily. The family junior suites can sleep up to three children in single or bunk beds, as well as two adults in a separate partitioned area, both areas having their own TV.

There are numerous historical sites to visit in Paphos, so ensure you book a stay long enough to allow you to tick off the many sites, as well as leaving time to relax. You could spend hours exploring the Kato Pafos Archaeological Park, an important ancient Greek and Roman city which still isn’t fully excavated. Here you will see mosaics, as well as the remains of temples and theatres. Christians shouldn’t miss St. Paul’s Pillar, dating from 45AD, located where he attempted to convert Paphos from Paganism to Christianity. For children who aren’t interested in history, there’s a zoo and a waterpark. If you fancy playing a few rounds of golf during your break, you can head to Marios Golf Park, a 9-hole golf course that is 8km north of the hotel.

Sleep Quality

Room issue and too many groups

May 2022 | PeggyMason

We have travelled to the Olympic Lagoon, Paphos twice before and decided to try the Ayia Napa hotel as heard it was bigger and had slightly better facilities. We booked 10 nights with Tui and upgraded our room directly with Kanika to a private pool room (over a year ago) and arrived early hours of the morning with my husband, our 4 year old son and 10 month baby to be told by Craig, hotel receptionist, that the rooms had been allocated incorrectly and we had to sleep the night in the wrong room and the next morning i would have to speak to guest services. Craig also told me that it was illegal to have a private pool room with children. 1. It’s not guest services who deal with this it’s reception and 2. It’s not illegal to have a private pool as we had booked one and eventually stayed in one. We felt that Craig didn’t really understand the hotel very well and was more a night shift just give people there keys type of employee which is disappointing considering how much money we are paying to stay here. Also, no welcome drinks upon arrival and check in was over 1 hour (not what you expect from a 5 star hotel at 3am with 2 tired kids) Anyway, managed to sort the room the following morning with the lady at reception who was very efficient but wasted a whole day as we couldn’t move until 2pm and I had to re pack everything - I had sterilisers, Tommee tippee bottle machines, bottles, all the essentials for a baby - they then expected my husband to help them transport all the suitcases with the porter. Despite this, we had a good time. I have listed below pro’s and con’s: Pro’s Lazy river is really nice, drinks are of a good quality and not the local rubbish you sometimes get, private pool room is really lovely overlooking the main pool, we loved the ice cream shop, kids club is really good, mini disco and evening entertainment is great Con’s Hotel is overrun with large wedding groups, between 2-3 weddings per day with anywhere from 20-60 people per group, food in main restaurant is repetitive and service lacked due to the large groups, the pool is freezing in may (our 10 month couldn’t go in as too cold and indoor pool not much warmer), very noisy hotel - groups loud around pool and loud shouting in evenings, disliked the layout of the hotel and didn’t like the location or ayia napa itself although beaches are nice Would I return? No. We felt the hotel is overrun with large wedding groups. The layout of the paphos hotel leaves this in the shade. The paphos hotel is directly on the beach with a lovely walk to Paphos and the harbour. The kids club at paphos is joined to the the evening entertainment theatre (they do movies for the kids late at night so nice to know only next door not in a different building like ayia napa). This is not what I expect for a 5 star family hotel.

Hotel room issue

May 2022 | Adele H

The first part of our holiday was ruined by the fact that they had over sold the particular family room that we had booked and paid for. We were therefore squeezed into an unsuitable room (with a travel cot for my near three year old) and lived out of suitcases until day three when we were moved (after much time spent complaining). We then began to enjoy the holiday. The hotel apologised and accepted they had overbooked to our tour operator, Jet2, who offered us very limited compensation for the disruption. We complained on return to Jet2 and we have been offered nothing more. Really disappointing as it was a nice hotel. We were the unlucky ones.

Family wedding.

We visited the hotel in early May for my sons wedding on the 10/05/2022, we arrived early hours of the 2nd we were shown our room that we had booked but it didn't have a balcony, we booked a room with a French Balcony. We actually got the room we had booked but didn't realise what a French Balcony was, we went to reception to say we needed a room with a Balcony as we both smoke, we were advised to go back in the morning and when we did we were able to upgrade to a room with a garden, we obviously had to pay for the upgrade as the hotel actually supplied us with the room we had booked and it was our misunderstanding that caused the problem. This hotel is the best hotel I have ever been to as you can't wish for anything the food and drinks are premium and are all top quality, all of the staff take their time to talk to you. My sons wedding was so professionally done that you couldn't wish for a better, relaxing venue, everything is taken care of by the wedding planners at the hotel and the standard is set sky high. Please be aware that thus is a 5* hotel and when booking with any hotel there is normally a reason why they have cheaper rooms, my advise is not to book the cheap rooms at this hotel go for a mid range and you will be very pleased with your choice. A big shout for Steve the barman at the wedding venue, he made the night perfect, always had a smile and time to chat with everybody.
