Ascos Coral Beach

A beautiful coastal city in southwest Cyprus, Paphos boasts pristine Blue Flag beaches, a charming old town, and is home to one of the most important shrines in the ancient world. Stay at Ascos Coral Beach Hotel, and you’ll be a short 20-minute drive from these culturally fascinating sites. This scenic 4-star hotel is perched right on the coast, giving you direct access to a private shingle sand spot and breathtaking views of the Mediterranean sea. When you’re not soaking up those blissful golden rays on the shores, you can pull up a sun lounger and relax by its sprawling pool.

This family-friendly hotel has plenty to keep your little ones happy, too, from its play area to the water fountain splash pool and the entertaining animation team. The Ithaki Amusement park and mini golf course are also just around the corner. And you’re only a 10-minute walk from one of the best beaches on the west coast - Coral bay. A sweeping 600m crescent of soft white sands and verdant scenery. Here you’ll find plenty of traditional bars, tavernas and boutique shops along the seafront. If it’s thrills you're seeking, hop aboard a jet ski to explore the nearby sea caves, or strap on your hiking boots and trek across the nature trails.

For something completely off the beaten track, visit Lara beach. Only accessible by a four-wheel drive, this is one of the few places you can see green and loggerhead turtles. This unspoilt stretch is pure paradise with fine sand, clear waters, and no inhabitants in sight. Make sure to bring food and water with you, as you’ll be far away from any of these amenities. If you look around the sea caves, you’ll also likely see some monk seals that dwell around the peninsula.

Back at the hotel, you can enjoy an entertainment programme, tennis courts, a video game suite, a fully equipped gym and a relaxing spa to keep you occupied. Each room is fully air-conditioned, with a satellite TV, mini-fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and a balcony.

And as for the food, you’ll have the choice of two buffet restaurants serving both regional and international cuisine. Breakfast is open from 7 am until 10 am, with snacks to keep you going until lunch. More nibbles, ice cream, teas, and coffees are available throughout the afternoon, with themed dinners served between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm. If you’re arriving late from your flight, you can pick up a selection of sandwiches between 10 pm and midnight. You can also enjoy local spirits, wine and beers as part of the All Inclusive package, served from the pool and lobby bars between 10 am to midnight.

The hotel is only a 20-minute drive to Paphos. Soak up the ancient history with a wander through the walled city in Kato Archaelogical Park, included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list since 1980. Here you’ll get to see the Tombs of the Kings, the Limeniotissa ruins and the intricate mosaic floors of the four mansions, all depicting scenes of Greek Mythology.

Sleep Quality

Staff {not all} miserable. Entertainment Terrible.Exellent location...Had money stolen from our room which was in our safe. Suspected cleaner as she swiped into our room twice on said day. Manager was arrogant and unfriendly. We spent half a day at police station. Couple in next room also had money stolen from their safe...Block H smells of cigarette smoke as the cleaners have a room there. Sunbeds are dated and most are broken. Beach is Rubbish...Food OK but lunch at pool restaurant is full of flies and they have no pest control in place... WE WOULD DEFINATLEY NOT RETURN TO THIS HOTEL...

Not as bad as the reviews have you believe!

I had read the reviews (especially the post covid ones) and was starting to think we were coming to a hotel of horrors! But then I thought people always complain loudly rather than when something good happens so hopefully that was why I hadn’t seen any good reviews. First impressions - the hotel is in need of some upgrading - the corridor areas are particularly tired looking but once you get past that, it’s not too bad. Our room wasn’t great - we arrived late at night and went straight to bed and we initially thought based on our room that the holiday was going to be rubbish! The next day we had showers and we had a walk in shower - it seemed to be on a slope and the water ran out, under the bathroom door and into our room. Our balcony seemed to have a bit of Railing missing which left a gap - we were travelling with a toddler so this was far too dangerous. We complained and got moved to a pool view room which was 100x better and improved our holiday straight away. The travel cot for our toddler wasn’t great - had a hole in the side and the mattress looked a bit lumpy. The pool area isn’t bad - read a lot about broken sun beds - they seem to have all been removed and there was always plenty available even later in the morning. There were some loose slaps etc so it does require some upgrading. There was a programme of events for the week although they never really seemed to happen other than a game of water volleyball. There was evening entertainment- a kids disco that was the exact same every night for about 15 mins then there was karaoke/quizzes/bingo etc. Food was ok - was different each day and always something edible. Not a great selection for children. Afternoon tea was supposed to be served 4-5 and never saw that once. Snacks didn’t seem to be served all day - it just seemed to be lunch left out all afternoon. The only ice creams were chocolate mini magnum style ice creams. Location wise - short walk to the shops and restaurants. We are out at Siriani’s which I highly recommend. The zoo transfer bus stops right outside the hotel and short walk to catch a bus to Paphos. 10 min walk to a nice Sandy beach. All in all, once we changed rooms, this wasn’t as bad a hotel as I’d initially thought. I’d give it a 6/10. Mainly because it lacked on activities through the day, lack of provisions for wee ones and the initial room. As we went during school term time, there weren’t many children so I can’t comment if it is more family friendly come july time

Originally visited this hotel several years ago so was looking forward to going. Late arrival and we were given a plate with ham & cheese sandwiches, 2 packs of crackers a couple of apples and oranges. Large bottle of water in room plus kettle with tea/coffee although these were not topped up during our 11 nights. Room was probably the best bit, we had a side sea view facing west so got the most amazing sunsets (overlooked the villas at the side of the hotel), also quieter than having a pool view. Air con worked great, bathroom ok although bath slippy once water on it.. Cleaned every day, towels and linen changed regularly. Carpets in hallways - don't think they have ever seen a vacuum, crumbs everywhere! Meals - yes, plenty of lukewarm choices but it was all the same! Breakfasts - the only slight difference to breakfast menus were either mushrooms or ham and mushroom omelette alternate days. Flies constantly seen on the scrambled egg. One day thought we'd have what looked like chocolatines - big mistake, instead of chocolate inside it was olive paste, other croissants /danish pastries were ok Lunches - most of the sauces looked the same, just with different meats in - not much variety in veg - ok if you like peas and sweetcorn. Found choices poor. Dinner - better than lunches but the same choice of salads every day. Main courses - ok as a few evenings they had different cuisines - eg Italian, Cypriot, Chinese, Eastern European but they were ad hoc, not on the same evenings weekly.. No announcements anywhere as to what the cuisine would be that evening. Restaurant staff are good and friendly though, they soon remember what drinks order you want. Bar staff and reception staff are all helpful. Charges for wifi were either €24 per week or €10 per day - thankfully ,as we are on o2, we got the same data package as back in the UK so didn't pay for wifi at all. Plenty sunbeds but you need to be early if you want front line round the pool, didn't affect us as we were happy to be away from frontline.. Definitely wouldn't return to the hotel as not worth the money charged for what you got although will return to Cyprus (already booked another hotel for next year)
