The breathtaking views start before you reach your hotel, as the coastal road linking the airport provides a very attractive transfer. A world away from travelling along a busy dual carriageway!
Chill on one of the sparkling beaches, take a dip in the crystal-clear water and explore the 13th-century walled city of Dubrovnik, nicknamed the "Pearl of the Adriatic". Games of Thrones fans will recognise numerous landmarks from the TV series. All this is located at the foot of Mt Srd, which has a cable car taking you to the top for panoramic views of the islands lying in the Adriatic Sea. If you want to see one of them close up, there’s a plethora of boat trips to choose from.

Start your day soaking up the rays on the golden sands, many of which boast excellent facilities for water sports like windsurfing and kayaking. For a touch of history, delve into Burgas' charming Old Town, a maze of cobbled streets lined with colourful 19th-century houses. 7. Gibraltar

June averages:
Daytime high: 26°C

As there’s no school and college holidays in June, it’s the perfect time to avoid seeing cheeky monkeys on your hols. That is unless you head to Gibraltar, home to the barbary macaques - the only wild primates in Europe!
A typical June day will be dry and the daytime high will hit the mid 20s. As this British Overseas Territory has its own microclimate, if you’re unlucky with the weather just head inland or down the coast to experience a more favourable forecast. However, don’t forget your passport as you’ll be crossing into Spain.
If it gets a bit too humid for your liking, escape the heat by exploring two of Gibraltar’s fascinating sites within the rock. St. Michael’s Cave is a stunning natural grotto, and The Great Siege Tunnels are an impressive series of passages with a rich wartime history.
