Wanted a week to relax, hotel was excellent, could never get a bed round the pool but just across is the beach with free sunbeds, we were very well looked after. If you like walking its a mile or so to town, all along the beach front, which is a lovely little town with shops bars and restaurants, and very reasonably priced. If not there is a taxi rank right outside so you can get straight there. I'm planning to go back next year and i'm really fussy.

We enjoyed our stay at the Aegean Pearl Hotel. We were pleased we picked the resort of Rethymon as it has a lovely old town with great restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel was lovely and the staff very friendlly and helpful. The only negative aspect of the holiday was on the return journey home. The check in procedure at Heraklion Airport is a shambles with people queueing for at least 40 minutes outside to get into the terminal. Once inside, you had to queue to have your bags weighed, and then take them to another queue to have them scanned before they were taken onto the aircraft. I do think this airport needs updating to the 21st century, and perhaps Thomas Cook could put some pressure on the Cretan Tourist Board to update it. We really enjoyed our visit to Crete but would think twice about booking to go again because of the airport arrangements .

We were made very welcome from the start and all the staff were polite and helpful. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. The only small complaint would be the towels were not big enough. Should be bath sheets instead of bath towels, especially as it is 5 star. We booked bed and breakfast and the breakfast was fantastic. They offered everything you could think of and beautifully presented. We didn't eat there in the evening as the men had to wear long trousers and for the first time I didn't bring any. This is something Thomas Cook should mention in the brochure. The pool area was very clean and comfortable - it is quite small but quite a few went to the beach and we had no problems getting a sunbed. We found the whole experience great the hope to return next year - with a pair of trousers!

Stayed here in August 2012. We had booked one double and a single but neither rooms were available on our first day so all three of us were upgraded to a honeymoon suite and a 2 storey family room - both wonderful. Moved to proper rooms the next day which were both very clean, comfortable and spacious. Loos worked wonderfully - we had been led to believe that the flush-ability of loos in Crete were a bit dodgy but we didn't find this at all. Very comfortable and big beds in both rooms with fully functioning showers/baths. The air conditioning seemed a little wayward but worked well eventually without that awfully drafty waft of air one sometimes experiences. Very welcoming and helpful multi-lingual staff. Breakfast buffet - American style so called - had pretty much anything from full English, to pancakes and continental/Swedish style food. Wonderful fresh orange juice machine that occasionally spat entire oranges out of the top, much to the consternation of the staff. Entertaining for the guests though. When we stayed, the restaurant served a buffet evening meal with something for everybody both hot and cold with fresh fish being cooked to order. Local and international dishes. Cafe serving lunch and evening with salads, toasties, Greek food incl locally caught fish. Good local draught lager and local wine. Slightly more expensive than the equivalent outside the hotel but worth it to be able to drift in from the swimming pool area. Evening entertainment several times a week incl magician, Greek dancing and DJ. Smallish pool which can also be used by the adjoining Pearl Beach guests but loungers reserved for Aegean Pearl people only. Aqua aerobics led a couple of times a week. Hotel a spit away from gorgeous sandy beach with loungers which were free for hotel guests and a couple of kilometres from the old town - 5 euros by taxi from rank right outside hotel or 1 euro one-way by local bus 10 mins walk away). Would definitely recommend.
