Our second time to this hotel and had a fantastic holiday. 15 months ago it was a bit scruffy round the edges, but now there are much improved gardens, paths and and general areas. New tennis court and five-a-side football pitch, and they are landscaping the areas round them. Beautiful, spotlessly clean pools. Lunches are particularly good with breads made in front of you. They are just about to open up an Italian restaurant and a seafood restaurant - settings for both look fabulous. A smallish hotel by many standards in Egypt, but very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Brilliant snorkelling and an excellent dive centre. We love it and will be back.

Why does this hotel only have 2 reviews on Thomas Cook, when Trip Advisor has over 1200. Not sure myself, but I do agree with the second review totally. I would struggle to award a 2* rating for the Utopia, as it come not even close to the hotels in Taba and Hurghada that we have stayed in all-inclusive six times in the past. I will try now to make this review as short as possible as I hate long reviews. Hotel decor poor. Pathways very poor / uneven. Lunchtime food at the main pool french fries hot dogs and burgers, with staff who use bare hands to serve all of the above. Breakfast and evening meal in the main restaurant is ok but no more, though there are lots of bits almost the same to choose from. Main meats the same each night though cooked slightly differently. Standard rooms are ok but Sea view deluxe bungalows are not worth a penny extra unless you are fit and like to be nearer the beach. Being fit means to can walk to the main restaurant and back, quite a trip. Ali by the way is not the hotel manager but the customer relations manager. Also there is no allocated A-la-carte at the hotel.

Just come back from Utopia and couldn't have loved it any more. Yes it may be showing it's age in places, but Ali the manager and the staff make up for any shortcomings. Any problems were addressed immediately and resolved, the beach is gorgeous and the staff make sure that you are comfy and accommodated bringing towels and soft furnishings for your sun loungers. The food was lovely, and fresh as you like. They made some beautiful cakes for Valentines Day dinner, stunning. Planning to return as soon as possible. Thank you to Ali and all staff at Utopia.

Went here for a week as 2 adults and a 3 year old , we love Egypt have been many many times , this is the worst place I have ever stayed at!!!! Payed for deluxe room with sea view we got a nice room that ya could see the sea if ya stretched over the patio area !!! Now for the food !!!! There is a grand total of 30 tables inside the one and only restaurant!!!!!! For a full hotel it's ridiculous!!! People having to eat outside wrapped in coats with kids is darn right disgusting !!!!! Breakfast was ok , lunch , if you wanted burger and fries that was by the pool but if you wanted lunch then you had to go down to the beach which is a hike especially if you have mobility issues and the only thing worth going there for is the bread !!!!! All food is catered for European tourists !!! Drinks are from bottles I asked for ice to be told we don't do Ice in this hotel !!!!! I love drinking warm coke in 28 degree heat !!!!! A few morning there was no orange juice for breakfast !!! Pool was nice and bar man at swim up bar was good as was the pool boy but majority of staff looked depressed !!!! I've always booked with Thomas cook but not anymore as I feel that to take money off people to stay here is robbery !!!!!
