What's the weather like in Malia in May?

Located along the north coast of Crete, Malia is a buzzing holiday destination with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Spring is coming to an end in May, and temperatures are rising while the amount of rain is falling. Things can get a bit cool in the evenings so bring some warmer layers for nights out in the resort, but during the day you’ll have lots of warm and sunny weather, with ten hours of sunshine for exploring or relaxing on the beach.

In Malia, the average temperature’s 18ºC in May, with highs of 22ºC in the hottest part of the afternoon and lows of 14ºC after dark. Although it’s not scorching during the day, you’ll still need to protect yourself with plenty of sun cream. There’s hardly any rain over summer in the resort, and it expects just 20mm of wet weather over four days in May. The Mediterranean Sea warms up to 19ºC this month, pleasant for a quick dip yet refreshingly cooler than the peak of summer.
