      Heraklion is positioned on the north coast of Crete, which is one of the most popular Greek Islands. It enjoys a warm, Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. Spring and autumn are also very mild, although they see slightly more rainfall than the summer. If you love the sun and heat, the best time to go to Heraklion is in the summer. Temperatures reach daily highs of 30˚C, which will call you to the beach where you can sunbathe and swim in the mild sea water. If you don’t like heat or humid weather, the best time to visit Heraklion is late autumn or in the spring. The winter is also a great time to visit to escape the cold weather back home. January is the coldest month of the year with an average low of just 9°C. The wettest time to visit is December.
