      Rethymnon

Located on the north coast of Crete, Rethymnon enjoys a warm, Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. Temperatures rarely fall below zero and the winter months are quite warm and pleasant. The best time to visit Rethymnon is the summer when temperatures are around 28˚C. July and August are the warmest months with an average high of 30˚C. If you’re a keen swimmer, you won’t be disappointed. Rethymnon’s waters reach up to 26°C which is ideal for a refreshing swim in the sea during the hottest part of the day. The best time to go for cooler temperatures is the spring and autumn. You’ll still get to enjoy the amazing weather but it won’t be too hot. Rethymnon’s mountains give the region shade from strong winds and rainfall, which can get worse during the colder months. Winds blow in from the north and are frequent all year-round. When it’s hot and humid, the sea breezes bring a nice break from the heat and keep humidity levels under control.
