The region enjoys a traditional Mediterranean climate that peaks from June to September. Temperatures reach highs of 31°C with 13 hours of warm sunshine per day in the summer. Cooler temperatures arrive in late November to early May. The winter has an average temperature of around 14°C and lows of 8°C at night. If you enjoy swimming and water sports, the best time to go to Stalis is the summer when the sea is at its warmest. However, the water stays warm until autumn, when it lowers to around 20°C. You’ll notice some regional climate variations depending on your location in Stalis. The mountainous region in Crete usually has cooler weather with heavier rainfall. It’s also likely to snow in the winter, so if you want to avoid all this it’s best to stay clear of the mountains.
