Pick between Los Cristianos’ bookend beaches, each equally beautiful and backed by a vibrant waterfront promenade bustling with shops and cafes. The beach is the place to go for water sports, or for something a little more relaxing, head to the marina for a leisurely yacht ride or dolphin-spotting excursion. If you’re away with kids, take them to the local monkey zoo to make friends with the baby lemurs. Save the sunniest day for the Aqualand water park, where the whole family can choose from the hair-raising slides or lazy river. In the evenings, wander along the seafront and eat at a local pizzeria or seafood restaurant.
Los Cristianos’ twin beaches are matching curves of silky golden sand, shelving gently into beautifully warm waters. The sea is calm in the bay, making it ideal for kids. The beaches are well-organised with sun beds and parasols, and lined with a long palm-lined promenade. The waterfront is a sunny and sociable place to eat, drink and shop without having to stray too far from the beach. The beach is the best place to go in Los Cristianos when you’re craving a little excitement. Hire jet skis, learn to snorkel or grab your mates and cling onto the back of a speeding banana boat.
Los Cristianos is home to one of Tenerife’s biggest ports, filled with gleaming white yachts and ferries. The ideal place to take a boat trip, you can head out on the ocean and keep a lookout for whales or dolphins swimming alongside the boat. The ferries are also a good way to hop over to other resorts on the Canary Islands. The town is popular for its easy-going and traditional feel, and the pedestrianised town centre is one of the best places in Los Cristianos for shopping. It’s also the resort’s nightlife centre, with a number of bars and restaurants where you can try the local seafood.
There are lots of things for kids to do in Los Cristianos, and many of Tenerife’s family-friendly attractions are within easy reach. When you can tear them away from their bucket and spade, take the 10 minute drive to the Tenerife Monkey Park. Not only a zoo, the park is a breeding centre for endangered monkeys and lets you meet and feed the lemurs, gibbons and more. Around a 20 minute drive north of Los Cristianos is Tenerife’s famous water park, Aqualand, a guaranteed hit for all ages with water slides, kids’ pools and playgrounds, plus daily dolphin shows.
