Los Cristianos Holidays

Pretty as a picture, Los Cristianos holidays take you to one of Tenerife’s most delightful resorts. It merges new facilities with traditional charm, giving you a taste of Canarian life with all the modern trimmings. You have not one but two curved golden beaches to choose from, stretching back to a busy and cosmopolitan seafront promenade that’s so long you can walk all the way to neighbouring Playa De Las Americas. Bobbing in the attractive marina are glass-bottom boats to take you out to the reefs so you can explore the underwater world without getting your feet wet, to ferries that can take you whale watching. If you’re here with the kids, then you have plenty to keep them happy all day long on Los Cristianos holidays. If you need a break from those golden sandy beaches, you’re just 15 minutes away from the local water park and zoo.

June and July promise steady beach temperatures and lots of sunshine, with a gentle sea breeze to take the edge off the heat.

Pick between Los Cristianos’ bookend beaches, which are both equally beautiful. A vibrant waterfront promenade bustling with shops and cafés runs the length of both beaches, perfect for a mid-morning snack or ice-cream. If you like cranking up the excitement then there are plenty of water sports to try. For something a little more relaxing, head to the marina for a leisurely yacht ride or dolphin-spotting excursion. Save the sunniest day for the Aqualand water park, where the whole family can enjoy crazy rides and cooling off in beautiful lagoons. In the evenings, wander along the seafront and sample some of the local cuisine at a pizzeria or seafood restaurant.

Los Cristianos’ twin beaches are matching curves of silky golden sand, shelving gently into warm waters that are perfect for paddlers and toe dippers. The sea is calm in the bay, making it ideal for kids. There are plenty of sun beds and parasols for everyone, with lots of room even during the summer. The beaches are lined with a long palm-lined promenade that leads onto the waterfront. It’s a sunny and sociable place to eat, drink, and shop without having to stray too far from the beach. Craving a little excitement? You can hire jet skis, learn to snorkel, or grab your mates and cling onto the back of a speeding banana boat.

Los Cristianos is home to one of Tenerife’s biggest ports, filled with gleaming white yachts and ferries. Take a boat trip and keep a lookout for whales or dolphins swimming alongside the boat. The ferries are also a good way to hop over to other resorts on the Canary Islands. The town is popular for its easy-going and traditional feel, and the pedestrianised town centre is one of the best places  for shopping. It’s also the resort’s nightlife hub, with plenty of bars and restaurants where you can try the local seafood.

There are lots of things for kids to do in Los Cristianos, and many of Tenerife’s family-friendly attractions are within easy reach. When you can tear them away from their bucket and spade, a 20-minute drive north brings you to Tenerife’s famous water park, Aqualand; it's a guaranteed hit for all ages with water slides, kids’ pools, and playgrounds.

Getting around

By bus: Tenerife has an efficient and cheap bus service that links the major resorts right across the island. From Los Cristianos you can hop on a bus and go exploring, with nearby attractions easily reached. Buses are modern and air conditioned, making them a great way to get around.

By taxi: There are plenty of taxis in the resort, with the main taxi ranks conveniently positioned right in the middle of the resort. It’s best to book ahead if you want to make a longer journey, or you want to make sure you get to the airport on time to catch your flight.

By car: To get around the island in your own time and for maximum day trip opportunities, why not hire a car? Several car hire companies operate in Los Cristianos. Pick a 4x4 if you want to go exploring.

Events

For jazz fans: In July, the Canary Islands International Jazz Festival blasts into town. It puts on concerts in unique venues and outdoor spaces across the whole of the Canary Islands, and features jazz musicians from all over the world, making it one of the most renowned jazz events on the international calendar.

Carnival: Tenerife is a fantastic place to experience your first Carnival. Hop on a bus and head over to Santa Cruz, under an hour from Los Cristianos, where the February festivities bring in the locals for days of parades, costumes, and dancing. The fiesta finishes with the biggest parade of the week, and it’s a great way to chase the winter blues away!
