Holidays in Laganas

One of the liveliest resorts in Zakynthos, Laganas holidays attract a young and ready-to-party crowd every summer. With hundreds of bars and clubs lining the strip, expansive golden sandy beaches, and fantastic water sports, it’s easy to see the attraction for groups of mates looking for a great holiday. If you’ve got the little ones with you then it’s a family-friendly spot too, with a water park just minutes away. There are plenty of activities for children of all ages, including spotting loggerhead turtles from a glass-bottom boat and exploring hidden coves, home to mysterious shipwrecks. It’s fun, it’s affordable, and it’s the ideal spot for a sunny, beach-based break.

If relaxing on beautiful beaches sounds like your idea of the perfect holiday then this trip will tick all the right boxes. Top up your tan on a lounger, go snorkelling, or take a dip in the crystal clear, shallow waters. Or get out and about with a bus trip to Argassi, where you can try a variety of water sports or even rent a boat to explore the coastline. Don’t miss the unique opportunity to hop aboard a glass-bottom boat to spot loggerhead turtles at Turtle Island or Marathonisi; there’s even the opportunity for snorkelling on the trip back to the resort!

A popular local spot is the Tsilvi Waterpark with its thrilling rides, it’s great for a family day out or fun with your mates. After dark, why not eat Greek at some of the traditional restaurants along Kalamaki Road, where you can try local specialities such as lamb kleftiko? Then hit the strip for bar hopping and clubbing until the sun comes up.

Stretching for almost 10km, Laganas Beach is the longest in Zakynthos, with fine, golden sands. You’ll find the beach just minutes from the resort centre and it’s packed with amenities including umbrellas and sun loungers, as well as a range of bars, shops, and cafés on the seafront. Laganas Beach is known for its very special wildlife visitors, rare loggerhead turtles that come here to nest. For this reason, the beach doesn’t allow water sports, but families can rent pedalos for a fun afternoon out.

Adrenaline junkies should head for Argassi, just 15 minutes away on the bus. Here you’ll find the best water sports activities including jet skiing, banana boat rides and more. Holidays to Laganas should always include a trip to the beach at Smuggler’s Cove. This stunning white sandy cove can only be reached by boat and is home to the wreck of an alleged smuggler’s ship, which you can explore at your leisure.

The stunning coastline of Zakynthos means it’s an excellent place to set sail. Explore for yourself with a tour of the coast; enjoy drinks on the deck of your boat, or spot turtles on the shore. Scuba diving and snorkelling are popular activities here too. For a fun-filled day out, Tsilvi Waterpark is a popular choice and it’s just 20 minutes by bus from the resort centre. With Jacuzzis, thrilling water slides and a lazy river, it’s the perfect place to cool off on hot days,

Shopping for souvenirs here is a great way to spend sunny afternoons and you’ll find jewellery, trinkets, and leather goods on the main strip, as well as olive oil and local spirits such as Ouzo in the supermarkets.

Considered as one of the best places to party in Zakynthos, the strip is where it all kicks off after dark. Here you’ll find hundreds of bars and clubs open until dawn, so start your night with a few chilled-out drinks before heading for Rescue or Plus Club, the biggest night spots in Greece outside Athens. Keep your eyes peeled for special nights and deals, including foam parties, UV parties and fancy dress. For a memorable end to your holiday, book a booze cruise and party all day and night on the Med, or watch the sun come up at one of the legendary afterparties on the beach.
