By day, Laganas is all about relaxing in the sunshine. Find a lounger on the beach and work on your tan, or go for a swim in the clear, shallow waters. For something a little more energetic, take the bus to Agassi and get stuck into the water sports, or hire a boat for a laid-back sail along the coast. A local favourite is the Tsilivi Waterpark, with a top choice of water slides and swimming pools. In the evening, get things going with some food and a drink by the beach, then head to the strip for a night at the bars and clubbing until daylight.
Laganas is home to the longest beach in Zakynthos, a stretch of golden sand nearly 10 kilometres long. The sand is speckled with sun loungers and umbrellas, with plenty of bars, cafes and shops on the waterfront where you can grab an ice cream or go for a drink without having to wander too far. Laganas Beach is known for its local visitors – rare loggerhead turtles that come here to nest. For this reason the beach doesn’t allow water sports, but the best water sports activities in Laganas are over in Argassi, just 15 minutes on the bus. Here you can jet ski, ride the banana boat, paraglide and more.
During the day, Zakynthos is a fantastic place to sail. Jump on a boat and take a relaxing tour of the coast, watch the turtles paddle on the shore and chill out on the deck with a drink. If you fancy trying something new, the island is a great place to learn to scuba dive or snorkel. One of the best places in Laganas for a day out is the Tsilivi Waterpark, around 20 minutes’ bus ride away. Perfect on a hot day, the park has a huge swimming pool, lazy river and jacuzzis, plus speedy water slides. There’s even a pool bar and a restaurant to hang out in.
Laganas is one of the party capitals of Zakynthos, packed with hundreds of dusk-to-dawn bars and clubs. Chill out with drinks by the beach when the sun goes down, then pick from pubs and buzzing bars to get the night going. When it comes to nightlife, the only place to go in Laganas is the strip. The big clubs feature legendary party nights like Hed Kandi, open until very late. Keep your eyes peeled for special nights and deals, including foam parties, UV parties and fancy dress. Round your holiday off in style and book a booze cruise, for all day and all night partying and drinking on the Mediterranean.
