Kardamena is a vibrant town on the south coast of Kos. It’s known for its long sandy beach, exciting nightlife and beautiful climate that gives the region constant sun and heat all year-round. The sun shines for 14 hours a day in the summer, which is the best time to visit Kardamena if you want to enjoy the warmest weather. Temperatures reach pleasant highs of 35°C during the day in July and August, before lowering to around 26°C towards the start of autumn. For a cooler climate, the best time to go to Kardamena is in the winter and early spring. You’ll still enjoy the Mediterranean sun, but temperatures are lower and more comfortable with an average of 10°C. Winter is the wettest season with 147mm of rain in December. Cloudy skies are more common at this time of year, which can make it seem very overcast at certain times throughout the season. The sea is a mild 26°C in the peak of summer, which is great for swimming. When you’re in the water, it can be easy to forget just how hot the sun is. Make sure to wear sun cream while swimming and sunbathing on the beach to avoid harm from high UV rays.
