My best hotel experience so far
Great hotel with tasty breakfasts, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Bit far from city center but very well communicated with metro. They also have a very practical swimming pool. 100% recommended.
Excellent!
Nice and clean. Professinal staff, always with a smile on their faces. Breakfasts very variated and good quality. The hotel is not that central to the inner-city, but just a close walk (approx 5 min.) to the subway, weighs up for that.
Excellent in every way
This is the first trip ever to Spain for my wife (58) and me (60), with arrival in Barcelona. I was looking for a hotel in the heart of the tourist district, close to the Sgrada Familia and Placa de Catalunya. But I just couldn't seem to find one that was reasonably priced - and then I realized that most hotels in the city centre were sold out or overpriced it was because of the Formula 1 n Barcelona over the same weekend. So then I stumbled upon this little gem of a hotel, where the only compromise seemed to be that it wasn't in the central district. But they said it had good connectivity by public transport, so I took a chance and booked it. And what a great decision that turned out to be! Right from the moment I booked, the hotel staff was super responsive, guiding me with the best way to/from the airport, and giving me a higher floor room as I'd requested. The actual arrival and check-in was seamless, even though I hadn't managed to do the online check-in. Excellent room, generous size, very comfortable bed and linen, spotlessly clean, large ensuite bath with a great shower, ample amenities, coffee maker and free bottled water in the room, fast wifi, ... what more can one ask for? The pleasant experience continued the next morning with a hearty breakfast (strongly suggest that you pay the extra money for it). And the staff are the crowning glory of this hotel. Everyone -- from the reception staff (the lady and the gentleman - sorry I forgot their names), Daniella and the other lady in the breakfast room -- were cheerful, responsive, and super efficient. The chef went out of his way and made some sauteed vegetables for us at breakfast when we told him we were vegetarians. The connectivity into the city centre is really good. The metro, tram and railway stations are just a 6-minute walk away. My wife and I bought the T-Familia tickets that gave us 8 rides for 10 EUR, which is all we needed for the 2 days that we went into the city. On a side note, the R-4 train was quite painful - we experienced delays of over 25-30 minutes both ways on our first day. On our second day, we used the R-5 metro line instead and even though it involved a change, it was much more efficient, with a much greater frequency. Connectivity to the airport was even easier - if you don't have large luggage, there is a direct bus (L77) that drops you literally outside the hotel door. It took us just 35 minutes from Terminal 1, for just 2.40 EUR each. The only two pieces of feedback I have for the hotel staff are: (1) Whenever we switched on the room air-conditioning, there was a weird, bad smell for a few minutes. Maybe some filter cleaning or other maintenance required (we were in room 322). (2) It would have been nice to have a bar of bathing soap. Actually I never asked, but I just managed with the shower gel. But both these were very minor blips. I still maintain my 5-star rating. Highly recommended and worth every cent. Thank you to everyone in the hotel for making our first 2 days in Spain so comfortable.
