The beds where great. Brekfast was ok. The rooms where clean. The staff was kind and friendly. The music in the garden was far to loud. Impossible to relax at the swimmingpool because of the loud music. Location was not good.
Great hotel!
Staid for one week and it was amazing! The hotel is clean, the view is beautiful, great food, love the swimming pool area and the staff is friendly and helpful. Albir is a great place and we will definitely come back!
Poor location, very basic hotel
Room basic, clean, I had a very comfortable mattress, partners mattress was standard. Beds made each day but floors not swept or toiletries replenished. Fridge functional when cover removed, didn’t use the safe as we bring our own, safe was €3 a day!!! Decorative covers on beds nice but I wasn’t too confident that they’re clean between other guests stays, they smelt bad. Balcony furniture uncomfortable and tatty. Balcony facing other balconies, no privacy as other rooms roughly 100-200m directly opposite. Could hear everything from other rooms next door. Breakfast was mostly nice, always croissants on offer, sometimes hash browns and churros with hot chocolate. Garlic seems to be used I a few of the breakfast items which isn’t too nice in The morning. Dinner sub par, always something to eat but mostly poor quality, too salty, no flavour. Lacking traditional Spanish foods, mainly tinned meats used on bread and a very dodgy cold layered potato cake was on offer twice and it was foul, tasted like dirt. Did notice food getting reused through the days, desserts poor, about 5 on offer and very repetitive and poor quality, some had a weird mould taste, once I tasted it once I really noticed it in a lot of the desserts, maybe an issue with storage? Good fruit selection. Same soup used some days. Drinks at dinner also expensive, €3 for a bottle of water. Wouldn’t recommend for allergies and vegetarians as simple people were using the wrong tongs with different foods even though staff has clearly placed them all infront of one dish each, blue cheese was picked up with multiple tongs so this contaminated the dishes in a section. A large group of 20+ school kids joined towards the end and that was a nightmare at dinner so we opted to go out after that. Just go bed and breakfast as you can eat near the hotel in lots of beautiful restaurants and cafes for under €10 and plenty of fancy Spanish tapas restaurants for a fine meal. We went to the roof bar one day but this had crazy prices for drinks, you’re best of walking down into the town to the local bars for a great cocktail. Unfortunately the hotel is located up a hill, so pack sensible footwear as I didn’t and paid the price by having a horrible blister and needing to use the hoppy e scooters to get around, these are great fun if able to stand for a while with balance and navigate the Spanish roads, cost can add up for these though, but they’re easy to use via an app and you can leave them where you please around albir. There is also no side entrance to the hotel so you have to walk to the top of the hill to the front. Staff all friendly and very efficient, friendly reception team. Entertainment was diabolical, they don’t seem to get much entertainment in so it’s samey and basic for a ‘4 star’ hotel. We’ve had amazing traditional entertainment at 2 star hotels so we were disappointed. Some days music was played but there was also loud beat music of no character coming from the roof bar so that sucked. One night entertainment started at 22:30, sadly it was our last night a really didn’t need to hear such loud music for so late, especially as we couldn’t see it from our balcony anyway due to tactically placed trees. One night there was a very rowdy bunch having a grand time late into the night, causing a lot of noise. Looking at past reviews it seems if you are facing the pool, expect a lot of noise. Minimal signage around the hotel, struggles to locate the roof bar, no signs for the spa. No information in the rooms about spa treatments or room service price. I can’t understand why they offer all these services but give no information on it. Pool big and basic, no thrills. Always seemed to be sun Loungers available. Don’t take the online photos too seriously, they make it look all zen, cute and modern but really it’s tatty and aged and nothing like the pictures. Our stay was fine, we needed a cheap holiday near Alicante, but we would not return due to the lack of communication, poor location and lack of attention to detail for a ‘4 star’ hotel.
