Best naturist
Decided to visit play hotel for the first time after a couple of friends suggest me I read lots of reviews before and I was a bit concerned as some of them were really bad I was surprised how excellent is the atmosphere in this hotel All the staff starting from the reception are very polite and efficient Swimming pool is the best Clean, big and space for everyone Room basic, but very clean and with all you need Only one thing disappointing: the food in the restaurant Breakfast very average Dinner with not much to choose There are some restaurants outside the hotel, but same again average Overall very good for a relaxing holiday
Vera playa club hotel
Excellent location, Excellent staff, excellent pools, nice clean basic rooms, and all with direct access to beach, cant wait to return on our 3rd visit.in 2023 if not sooner with friends hopefully. Everybody is friendly staff visitors, also seems to be a very safe place as items are left on sunbeds for ages and no ones property is touched.
Fawlty Towers
This was my third stay at the hotel. This time, a number of things reminded me of Fawlty Towers. The most striking was the hotel manager (and I'm not referring to José the helpful reception manager). Early one morning, there was a brief interruption to broadband in the entire area, but most businesses came back online quickly. The hotel's wifi suffers from various problems even on normal days, but this outage knocked out the hotel's wifi for 1½ days. My girlfriend needed the wifi for an important video session on only one evening during our two-week stay, which fell during the hotel's extended outage period. We complained to the hotel manager, and I suggested free late checkout in compensation. He initially refused, wanting to charge us €25, which he later reduced to €10. Although I was calm and smiling, he was very argumentative and confrontational. He even asked me why I was smiling. His poor attitude reminded me strongly of Basil Fawlty, even more when he suddenly changed the subject for no reason to Brexit, whereby he complained that the Spanish didn't get to vote on it. In the 6th episode of Fawlty Towers, Basil Fawlty refers to the way that he had voted in the 1975 referendum on the same topic. When I indicated my agreement with the hotel manager on this subject, he seemed quite frustrated that his confrontational approach was not having the desired effect. On weekdays, the hotel is like a retirement home. If you are of working age, you will probably feel out of place. It's only at weekends, particularly if there's a Spanish public holiday, that the hotel comes alive with young Spanish guests who visit for shorter stays. The same goes for the public beach in that the average age is noticeably younger at weekends. The British are a small minority at this hotel, but nearly all the British guests are simple people, judging by their accents, vocabulary and linguistic noises. They are more of a Benidorm crowd than a Marbella crowd. Sun loungers are a significant problem. Many guests reserve the poolside sun loungers early in the morning or even the night before. There are so many tall trees around the pool area that it's impossible to find a spot that is in the sun for most of the day. Many sun loungers remain reserved without being used for hours at a time. The most desirable south-facing sun loungers were reserved 24/7 by one guest who appeared to be a permanent resident like "the Major" in Fawlty Towers, but who more resembled Mel Harvey in the Benidorm sitcom. He used the sun loungers for only around one hour each day. Despite frustration about this by many guests, the hotel did nothing about it, and we even saw the lifeguard delivering additional parasols to him rather than curtailing his selfish behaviour. The entertainment team do a good job with their aqua-aerobics every day at 1pm for half an hour. They play loud music and around three of them dance at the poolside. They entertain everyone, not only those who are partaking in the aqua-aerobics, often throwing each other in the pool and other antics. They start off wearing a variety of colourful costumes, which they often remove by the end of their routine. I Shazamed their music and created a Spotify playlist to remind ourselves of enjoyable days at the pool. The housekeeping staff are extremely friendly, always greeting guests in corridors. They mostly do a good job with only minor omissions in their service. The best value rooms are the one-bedroom apartments, particularly on the 3rd floor facing the beach. They're not refurbished, so they don't attract a significant premium, but they are very spacious and crucially have a proper fridge and freezer. Pilar is the most impressive of the hotel's staff with excellent written and spoken communication skills. Unlike others in her team, she always gives service with a smile. Back to the Fawlty Towers analogy, she most resembles Polly - because she does her job very well and has a good rapport with guests. Just like Basil Fawlty, the hotel manager could learn a lot from her positive approach. I would like to give the hotel 5 stars, but I dropped one star for the manager's poor attitude and another star for the absurd and unusual surcharge for the tiny in-room safes, which can be operated only with a physical key, not with a combination like in most hotels. This really needs to be changed without further delay. The safes should be included in the price of the room, as is the norm in nearly all other hotels, should be large enough for laptops and operate using a combination, not with a physical key.
