A fantastic well equipped apartment.Staff friendly and helpful. We were self catering and were perfectly positioned near supermarket, beach and pool. The area is quieter at night but found lots of lovely restaurants.
A wonderful resort let down by substandard bedding
My family of four (2 adults, 2 5-year olds) stayed at Mestral and Llebeig in late July 2022. It's an apartment complex with 2 pools and one kiddie pool with excellent rides. I'll take you through our general thoughts: Food: the food is fantastic. We paid for half-board which meant breakfast and dinner. Drinks were an extra cost, surprising since this wasn't mentioned in the holiday booking details. The kitchen facilities in the room are tiny: the microwave barely fits on the counter (ours rested on the sink itself). There's an induction hob and you can find crockery but it's pretty tiny. Kids Entertainment: The kids were largely entertained but some of the dance routines in the shows were very questionable. Call me a prude if you will, but when you're the designated kids entertainer on stage with more than twenty kids in front of you that aren't more than 7 years of age... dance routines involving a wide legged hip thrusting action with your hands on your belly suggestively moving downwards are not what you should be doing. I was stupefied by this and a couple of parents pulled their kids from the performance for good reason. Accomodation: Very clean, decent sized, nicely decorated, great condition. We went for a 1 bed apartment given we were paying for the peak holiday season pricing. We tried sleeping on the sofa bed the first night but found it to be broken. We had it fixed the next day (maintenance were very responsive) but their repair job was sub-par: the bed frame needed welding as it was sagging in the middle and they just patched it up using wires, cable ties and a dose of prayer work(!). We put the kids on that sofa bed the next night as they didn't care and they weigh half what we do, so we slept on the main bed in the bedroom... which ended up being uncomfortably hard. Our sleeping was miserable throughout. Support staff: Staff on-site were generally very friendly! The three receptionists we consulted with were a mixed bag. One receptionist was super friendly and helpful. The other two were very cordial, polite but a little on the jaded side of things (one got the impression that they'd been dealing with holiday makers who wanted the earth on a platter just five minutes before). The area: Santo Tomas is a lovely area with a great beach. The water is crystal clear, warm and just idyllic for an early morning swim. There's nothing much there which is great if you're a young family; but if you want to party like you've won the lottery you're best off going to neighbouring Majorca! If you want a bit of sight-seeing you need a car because the buses only run every few hours, they're usually busy and they don't take you to some of the more remote and pretty beaches. General value: Prices were hiked up for this peak season which is standard. What I felt was a bit silly was the fact that you had to pay for the use of the room safe, with an additional price on top. Want a gym? That's an additional cost (fair enough) but the way it was presented it was almost like they didn't want you to use it as it was part of another hotel and they didn't want the bother. There's mini golf on-site which you have to pay for, but you can get the kids free on the days when it's part of Kids Club so bare that in mind. In summary: I personally wouldn't go there again just because the beds were so uncomfortable to sleep in. If they addressed that then it would definitely be in my shortlist!
Brilliant !
We have just come back from a five day stay here, a single parent and 3 children. We had the most amazing family holiday, the resort felt safe, and we was situated right by one of the pools, which you have a choice of 3!. The pools were a great feature, plenty of beds, kids all had a great time, apartment was large clean modern, great shower, toilet roll and towels plus washing up liquid provided. The gardens here are immaculate and kept so lovely, beautiful trees and lush grass. On one day a child had a accident in the pool (no nappy!!) which meant it had to be closed off, and treated etc, and a man who I assume was the manager made such a big effort to personally go around all the customers and let them know, polite and helpful. Wasn’t there fault it happened. English tv channels, which helps with kids, they had CBBC and Disney, E4 and ITV etc, coffee machine kettle microwave cooker and fridge freezer, huge airer for balcony. The air con was a great addition worked a treat, nice and cool, and can turn it down if you need to ( during the night) The food that we had here on resort at lunch time was great! Big portions and really not expensive either. You can also have it to takeaway and take back to your apartment. The area surrounding this hotel is lovely and peaceful a few bars and restaurants, we enjoyed meals at them all , it’s not a place for clubs and bars, it’s more family oriented with a few places to go. Which was perfect for me personally, locals were mostly polite, apart from supermarket staff. The supermarket is expensive, and not a massive choice. Maybe next time we would go half board. The beach is literally two mins walk, and is stunning, the kids loved the clear sea that wa shallow for a long long way. This place gets a massive thumbs up from me. If your reading this and wondering if you should go or not then I would say - go… you won’t be disappointed as long as you know what to expect and understand it’s not a strip of bars etc and is much more relaxed then your have a great family holiday and make some fantastic memories!
