Catalonia Del Mar

Overlooking a harbour, Catalonia del Mar is an adults-only hotel in the former fishing village of Cala Bona, on Majorca's popular east coast. It's steps from the nearest waterfront restaurants, open-air bars and pavement cafes. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, plus a heated indoor pool. You can keep fit at the gym and attend exercise classes, including yoga, stretching and aerobics. When it comes to food and drink, you can take your pick from a buffet restaurant, an a la carte restaurant and two bars. The hotel has a rooftop sun terrace, with views of the tree-covered hills and the Mediterranean Sea. Spread across two buildings, the bedrooms have whitewashed walls, complemented by a bold feature wall and wooden flooring. At this hotel you can spend the day at the spa, where you'll find a sauna and treatment rooms. If you fancy a spot of pampering, you could book a beauty or wellness treatment, such as a massage, facial or manicure. You can take a day trip to the island's capital Palma, which is home to boutiques, tapas bars and a yacht-lined marina. You'll be able to explore the resort's cobbled old town, wander along the seafront and paddle at the beach.

Catalonia del Mar can be found in the heart of Cala Bona's waterfront, with its old fishing boats and winding streets. You'll find holiday essentials at the nearest supermarket, which is 50m away. It's 2km to the centre of Cala Millor, where you'll come across some of the island's most popular Blue Flag beaches, with white sand and shallow water. There's also a palm tree-lined promenade, packed with beach bars, cafes and shops. Further afield, it's 15km to Drach Caves, which are home to Europe's largest underground lake, Lake Martel. You'll be able to dine at the underground restaurant, amid the stalagmites and stalactites.

At Catalonia del Mar, the buffet restaurant offers international cuisine at breakfast and dinner. You'll find food on offer at the snack bar, along with international alcohol brands. The a la carte restaurant serves Mediterranean dishes at dinner. You can also get drinks at the pool and show bars from morning until late.

After sunset, you can watch the evening entertainment with a drink. You'll find comedy performances and musicals on offer, along with singing and dancing.

The light and airy rooms at Catalonia Del Mar have a mini fridge and a fan, along with a dining area. They also have Wi-Fi.

Don’t waste your money

It truly was one of the worst hotels we’ve ever been! For the price, you can definitely find better! Let’s start with the room; weird cracks on the mirrors, door to the corridor was extremely hard to open and close. I had to get my partner to open and close them (which don’t get me wrong is great) because I physically couldn’t do it. If there was a fire or incident and I was by myself, I would not be able to get out. This issue was brought to attention to the receptionist, who not only was rude open arrival, did not care about it and did absolutely nothing to help out. We then met a supervisor and told them the problem, they sent up a person to take a look however they did absolutely nothing and left. The food was horrible. We had breakfast and dinner included and it was horrendous. I will say the breakfast did have good options and I was quite satisfied with it, however the dinners were horrible. Pretty much everything is the same every evening. Food is plain and boring. I even found a hair in mine (which was not mine or my partners). I brought that to the waiters attention, they only took my plate away and that’s it. No apology, no replacement, nothing. We really felt like no one cared at this hotel that guests were unsatisfied. The only great thing I’d say was the pool and the pool guy. He was the only staff member that actually spoke to people which was more than the other staff could do. We’re truly not picky people, however this hotel was just a different level of terrible

Lovely Hotel

We stayed here from 21st -28th October 2021 I was with my husband and my daughter and son -in Law We had a lovely room with stunning view of the harbour We stayed half board and were more than happy with the food There was a good choice and it was buffet service There were chefs there if you wanted something cooking while you waited The staff were very friendly , especially Rafael and a couple of the waitresses ( the lady behind the reception wasn’t ) The pool area was very pretty but as the area was getting ready to close down the pool bar was limited and no food served The staff did their best to accommodate us with anything we asked for though There was a lovely indoor pool too The rooms were kept clean with fresh linen and towels too The only negative thing was the bathroom A bit dangerous we thought There are two showers heads above the bath Trying to reach them because of a glass door without getting wet was difficult to say the least The bath was deep and there were no anti slip mats for you to stand/ sit on in the bath Would we stay there again , yes definitely We had a wonderful week there
