Samos
4377 reviews
Welcoming guests aged 13 and over, Samos is a resort in Magaluf, Majorca. The hotel has a heated outdoor swimming pool with tall palm trees around the edges, where you can take a dip. It is just a short stroll to the bustling tourist centre and beach, where you can soak up the sun and sample the food and drink available at the many bars and restaurants.
Those wanting traditional British cuisine in the warm Mediterranean climate can enjoy a full English breakfast in the hotel’s buffet restaurant, while those wanting to eat like locals can enjoy Majorcan flavours. For lunch and dinner, the head chef has created an enticing, varied menu comprising Mediterranean and international dishes, with one of four different world cuisines each evening. Don’t miss the Italian corner with handmade pizzas and freshly baked focaccia bread. If you want a specific topping on your pizza, the chef can prepare it to your taste, right in front of you.
For a drink or light snack there is a choice of three bars, one poolside, while another is on a raised sundeck, overlooking the sky-blue lagoon below. The final option is in the main building and it includes pool tables, a dance floor and a stage where live music, karaoke, acrobatics and dance shows take place.
Workout at the adult-only gym with its extensive range of fitness equipment including cardio bikes, treadmills, elliptical cross trainers, rowing machines, resistance equipment, weights, abdominal benches and bodybuilding kit. And if that’s not enough the hotel runs classes in Pilates, HIIT and aquagym. After all that exercise you’ll have earned a rest, so relax in the spa with its Scandinavian sauna, Turkish bath, thermal loungers, hot tub and cold water pool.
All rooms come with a private furnished terrace, air-conditioning, wifi, a hairdryer and a bath with shower. Extras are also available to hire but if you upgrade to the premium option you'll get additions such as a safe and coffee maker included, as well as having the choice of either a sea view or a plunge pool.
If you fancy staying up late there are many nightclubs in Magaluf, where tourists party into the night. If you're after a quieter spot, you'll find a couple of coves south of the main centre. The city of Palma, within driving distance of the hotel, has a number of historical sites, most notably the Gothic cathedral designed by Gaudi. You could also visit the 14th-century castle, which sits high up on a hill, offering great views out over the town and sea. Alternatively, wander through the Old Town, with its maze of streets and squares.

Honestly no more than a 3 star hotel at a push. The only pro I have is the views from the main pool. Cons: no luggage room (our case got taken and loaded into a taxi from right behind us, in the reception where we were told is fine to leave our cases). No toilets in reception you have to go down to another floor to access them, this was the same scenario when around the pool, no local toilets on that level. No air conditioning in reception. Building works throughout the hotel, woken up to someone sanding the corridor wall outside our room one morning at 8am! Leaks/mould everywhere. Paid extra for a swim up that certain people were getting for free! Pools weren't cleaned until 1pm, so dead flies everywhere until then. Our rooms on our first week were cleaned late afternoon (4-5pm). Linen had rips/holes in. Bathroom was not finished. Storage shelf in shower was hanging off the wall, along with the shower hose attachment and toilet roll holder. We had to put that back on the wall several times. The shower tray plug was not in its correct place for 8 days until the cleaner finally did it, resulting in a long hole in the floor! I could carry on for days here but the main issue was how thin the walls were. Our holiday was ruined by noisey neighbours/thin walls. You can hear absolutely everything. Arguments, sexual activities, screaming babies, the lot! Would never recommend this hotel. Also if you don't want popped ear drums I wouldn't bother, the pool music was louder than any 18-30 resort I've been to. Deafening doesn't come close. You can't relax at all. AVOID!
This is a Hotel for Party People
I travelled a lot in my life and I am positive that Hotel Samos is a 3 star hotel. The pool is nice, staff is competent (not sure about the receptionists, though), food has a nice variety but do not eat here if you have any allergies; the rooms are good too, the bed is cozy and the view is nice (I stayed in a room with panoramic view). The location and the amenities, however, are more directed for party people. It is very close to the strip, various clubs and bars, which also translates to the noise at night. Not from the parties but rather the people coming home as, unfortunately, you do hear the noises. Hence, it may have been a 4 star hotel in the past, but the current state is a 3 star hotel.
Overrated :(
First time going on holiday with my boyfriend and after spending a lot of money for only 5 nights we were slightly disappointed. We stayed at Hotel Samos, rated 4 stars for 5 nights but upon visiting we believe it should be more like 3 stars. Pool facilities were amazing, with plenty of sun beds. Staff around the pool were great and super entertaining with great day time activities! Food was good with decent meal times, but you do have to pay for any bar snacks such as ice creams. Big disappointment with drinks as you were only allowed alcohol during meal times unless paid for and this was only beer/wine. Hotel is not particularly accommodating for all inclusive guests. Location is great for young people on lads and girls holidays, and massive bonus was barely any children around. Beach is a 2 minute walk away which is great and the strip is close for those wanting to party. 24/7 security, however they were friendly but useless. Other guests were so noisy running up and down screaming outside our room, knocking on our door past midnight, and behaving very immaturely. Security or hotel staff did nothing. Very disappointed. Reception staff not so great, had to fish for important information from them such as check out time as we were not told any details when checking in. During our stay we enquired around late check out as we had a later flight and wanted to enjoy our final day in full. We were mislead information countless times initially being told this was €40 till 8pm to then being told no we couldn’t do this, to then being told about a ‘courtesy room’ we were again mislead regarding information around this being told we had to book it to then being told we might not get in it at all. After a massive farce trying to speak to staff around this; we managed to use the facility to find it in disgusting condition after previous users left hair all in the sink and an unclean toilet and no hairdryer as previous guests had stolen it, and no towels. To then see other guests checking out around 5pm when we were told 12pm was very annoying. Overall, would recommend to those wanted a lads or girls holiday for a short break - wouldn’t recommend the all inclusive for the price we paid when surrounding areas looked lovely to eat at. Definitely overpriced for what it was and beware of the noise as it was bad. Couldn’t fault the outside pool facilities
