Because of official travel advice, we don’t have holidays to Turkey at the moment, but there are plenty of other places to visit instead. SEARCH

Temperature: 12-29 (°C)

The resort is blessed with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, with hot summers that can last from April through to October. If you’d prefer more comfortable highs for your Gümbet holidays, spring’s mid-20 temperatures will suit you better. Things start to cool down a little at the end of the autumn, but they usually manage to hover in the mid-teens throughout the winter.

Beach lovers: The resort’s sand-and-shingle shores are among the Bodrum Peninsula’s most popular. The kilometre-long Blue Flag beach is gorgeous, so grab a beanbag or sun lounger and soak up the sun.

Clubbers: The loud and lively nightlife begins on the beach; you can sip drinks at sunset before starting your night at Bar Street. Gümbet gives Bodrum town a run for its money when it comes to serious clubbing.

Water sports fans: The beach is one of the finest places on the coastline for water sports thrills. Fancy trying your hand at knee-boarding or windsurfing? Head to one of the centres to book a lesson.

Holiday destinations related to Gumbet:

By dolmus: These local public minibuses are a great way to get around. Tickets are cheap and you can hop on and off as and when you like.

By taxi: Look out for licensed yellow taxis; you’ll have no trouble finding one in the resort. Bear in mind that they run on a meter and rates are higher at night. It’s worth asking for an estimate before you get in, or get your hotel to pre-book a taxi for you and agree the price before you set off.

By bus: There’s a regular bus service running between here and neighbouring resorts on the coast. It’s a good option for daytrips to places like Bodrum.

Sunsplash Festival: Fancy clubbing on the beach? Every May, Bodrum town’s beautiful beach plays host to a five-day electro music festival. Before the party starts at night, you can relax by the sea, take a yoga class, and see artists at work.

Bodrum Bicycle Festival: Also in May, you can find the Bodrum Bicycle Festival 10 minutes away by bus. It’s a fun-filled event designed to promote eco-friendly travel. Cyclists ride through the region’s trails, with live music and performers cheering them along the way.
