Ocean Point resort feedback
This was the second time we stayed at Ocean Point, the last was in 2019. The difference from then was remarkable. We were concerned when booking, but should not have worried . The experience was amazing! All of the staff and management worked hard to make our holiday a wonderful experience. Some stand out people to look out for are Damen, Brian and Janine who looked after the bar. I mention those names, but to be fair all of the staff at worked tirelessly to make our holiday special, we thank you! In summary, a great destination with fabulous food. The pastry chef should be working at a 7 * hotel in London! Chris and Sue
Perfect for a quiet, restful holiday
A lovely quiet hotel that is in the north of the island. Please note there is nothing near the hotel and you will need to hire a car, go by taxi or the infrequent bus. There is a small shop in the hotel that sells souvenirs, sun creams and cigarettes if you smoke. The food is exceptional and cannot be faulted. There is something for everyone. We went all inclusive, and the menu for the evening was changed everyday. The breakfast is the same choices everyday, but there is a vast range to choose from and you can pay for items not included. The staff are wonderful, friendly and go above and beyond for you. Everyone is polite and has a smile. There is bar food until 4pm if you miss lunch and then snacks in the bar from 4-5.30pm, but be quick as we found people were taking more than they should and the food went quick. We found the Wi-Fi intermittent especially when it rained and would have to log off and on again. Plenty of sun loungers by the pool and on the beach. Sadly there were people who got up early to reserve the loungers with cushions, but the ones without were just as comfy. The rooms are basic, but comfortable with a tv and fridge and a good shower. All inclusive does not include a full drinks selection in the fridge. You get a bottle of water each that is not replaced. You need to keep the bottle or bring your own and refill at the water station. Plenty of coffee and tea available from the drinks station in reception and the 2nd floor. We walked down the road to get snacks and biscuits from the little supermarket near Jabberwock Beach. There is a book case In reception where you can leave and borrow books. Towels are available from reception for the pool area and if you need to shower before catching a flight. There is hardly any entertainment at night. We had one evening with a singer and band and another of karaoke in our 10 day stay. A fab hotel if you just want to get away and have a quiet, restful stay. We did hear that the hotel is having work carried out in July this year, but not sure where.
An amazing place, staff and food which doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it says it is.
If you're looking for a 5* polished hotel then 1)This is not for you and 2)It's all the better for not being so! From the welcome at check-in to the goodbyes at check-out we didn't find fault anywhere during our stay. We had a sea view room which was great for the little time we were in the room - clean, tidy and airy. Highlight for us was the food. Very rare to have food of this quality, variety and presentation in a 3* hotel but that's what we had. The restaurant manager must have a twin as he always seemed to be there and asking what, if anything, would improve our dining experience. He is very much in control of his team, both in the restaurant and in the bar/beach service. There are some real characters there and a special mention for Keane and Brian in the bar. The pool is salt water but that's not an issue and it's was always clean. We spent most of our time on the 2 small beaches. We took a trip from the hotel to Shirley Heights on the Sunday night for the sunset party and would recommend that to anyone who likes a bit of Caribbean atmosphere and a great sunset. Hiring a car for a day/two is a great opportunity to see the island and visit some of the 365 beaches. Half Moon Bay was a great place for us.
