With more than 70 shops over two floors, Siam Mall has the biggest selection of stores in the southern tip of Tenerife. Here you’ll find designer and high street brands as well as boutiques, bars and restaurants. Taking advantage of the year-long sunshine, this luxurious Thai-themed mall has a unique open-air layout and is just a 20-minute stroll from Playa De Las Americas. Decorated with beautiful statues, refreshing water fountains and abundant green spaces, Siam Mall has a peaceful, unhurried vibe, perfect for some laid-back retail therapy. Once you’ve shopped till you’ve dropped, why not treat yourself to a delicious cocktail on one of the spectacular terraces overlooking the sea? Whether you fancy a relaxing afternoon of shopping or an outing with the kids to one of its playparks, Siam Mall is well worth a visit.
Named The Golden Mile for a good reason, this 1.5km stretch of shopping heaven and luxurious surroundings has everything you could want to enjoy some serious retail therapy. With most shops open until at least 10pm and a whole host of restaurants and bars, including Europe’s biggest Hard Rock Café, night-time shopping has never felt so good. Go in the evening when you’ll be surrounded by water fountains, light shows to music and street performances, all while exploring designer outlets, souvenir shops and everything in-between. If you’re all partied out and fancy a change of tempo, an evening spent on The Golden Mile becomes a night out in itself.
While you’re never far from convenient supermarkets, shopping in Playa De Las Americas can also be full of culture, discovery and secret gems just waiting to be found. If that sounds right up your street, then why not spend the day immersing yourself in one of Tenerife’s many street markets. Not only will you be charmed by the island’s traditional delicacies and handmade products, you’ll also have the chance to live like a local for the day. If you’ve hired a car or are happy to take a taxi, a real treat is the Rural Market at the Commercial Centre El Mirador, a half-hour journey from Playa De Las Americas. Held on the first and third Sunday of the month, this market is a buzz of activity with stalls selling local and handmade wares such as wine, artisan pastries, honey and jams, as well as pottery, jewellery and clothing. Held between 10am and 5.30pm, you’ll have plenty of time to find some truly original items you won’t find anywhere else.
If you don’t have access to a car or prefer to take a leisurely walk along the seafront, the closest street market to Playa De Las Americas is situated in Los Cristianos, just under 30 minutes by foot. The biggest street market in southern Tenerife, it trades between 9am and 2pm on Sundays and Tuesdays, when you’ll find everything you could possibly imagine.
