As part of a new series of posts on the best hotels in your favourite holiday destinations, we take a detailed look at the Maritim Jolie Ville Royal Penninsula in Sharm el Sheikh. Read on to discover the local attractions, the best beaches nearby and find out what facilities the hotel has to offer.
This striking luxury development is enormous. It covers around 200,000 sqm of landscaped grounds between the airport and bustling Naama Bay, which is an ideal location for exploring the best that Sharm el Sheikh has to offer.
The climate-controlled rooms are on the big side but if you want something really special, it’s well worth upgrading to an executive room. They have a really nifty TV island in the middle so you can turn it to face you on the sofa during the day and watch TV in bed at night.
Due to the sheer size of the grounds, it’s a good idea to book into block 53 or 54 if you want to be in the midst of things, or if you have any mobility difficulties.
Instead of going for lots of little pools, the designers of the Jolie Ville decided to go for one huge one – a whopping 4000sqm. There is a toddler pool attached if you have little ones in tow on a family holiday.
If you’d prefer to head to a beach, you can get a free shuttle bus to the private beach at Jolie Ville’s sister hotel, the Maritim Jolie Ville Golf & Resort. Or you can grab a taxi to one of the many beaches at Naama Bay. Just remember to book the taxi at reception as you may get overcharged if you try and hail one in the street.
With five restaurants on site, there’s a huge range of food available – from hearty poolside BBQs to themed buffets on the terrace at the flagship ‘Peninsula’ eatery. The ‘Panorama’ restaurant has live entertainment most nights but the staff are never pushy, so you don’t have to join in unless you want to.
As well as being known for its amazing coral reefs, Sharm el Sheikh is also great for golf. There’s an 18-hole championship course with amazing views if you fancied a round or two.
Other activities offered through the hotel include tennis, table tennis, volleyball and basketball. You can also join several workout classes for free.
If you fancy a little pampering after all of your activities, you’d be hard pushed to find a better place to get to indulge yourself than the award-winning on-site Thai Spa. Be treated like royalty in the palatial surroundings while rejuvenating your body with a salt scrub or a traditional Thai massage.
