If like me, you’re a bit of a shopaholic, and you can’t go one day without browsing clothing sites, let alone a whole holiday, you’ll be pleased to know that Cyprus offers plenty of opportunities to go shopping. Shopping in Cyprus varies from malls filled with places you know and love to tiny shops tucked away on narrow streets where you can pick up hand-made crafts. Here’s a couple of places I think you should check out.
Kings Avenue Mall
You can’t go shopping in Cyprus without visiting the Kings Avenue Mall. Located in Paphos, on the south of the island, this stylish mall has a wide range of shops ranging from fashion to cosmetics plus a cinema and children’s play areas, so you could get a couple of hours here with the whole family. You’ll recognise a majority of the shops from back home with Marks & Spencer, Zara, Mothercare and Mac Cosmetics just some of the names you can expect to see. And it’s open seven days a week!
If you’re after a more authentic Cyprus shopping experience, you’ll want to head for The Place, also located in Paphos. This little Cypriot gem is tucked away on a narrow street in Paphos’ Old Town; it’s the sort of place that you’d stumble upon by accident but then never want to leave. Here, you can pick up many hand-crafted items including pottery, glass and wood works. You can get up close and personal with the craftsmen and women and watch as they lovingly create one-off pieces of craft for you to take home to show off to your friends and family. You can also get your hands on fresh produce from local farmers, including home-made jam and wines. It’s not just me who loves The Place; it’s voted the number one attraction for shopping in Paphos on TripAdvisor, too!
The Mall Of Cyprus
Located in the island’s capital city, Nicosia, if you need your fix of well-known international brands when shopping in Cyprus, you’ll feel right at home at The Mall Of Cyprus. Providing a department store in the form of Debenhams and designers outlets such as Lacoste and Guess, as well as Forever 21, Next and Topshop shops, you’ve got a choice of brands you’re used to at home, meaning you can shop ‘til you drop!
The Spice House
For shopping in Cyprus, that’s a bit different; you’ll want to make the journey to Peristerona, a tiny village near the foothills of the Troodos Mountain range, to visit The Spice House. Approximately 10 minutes by car from Polis, you’ll find all kinds of herbs, spices and essential oils; all perfectly blends to aid your health and wellness. You can pick up herbs and spices that you can use for cooking with recipes that you can use them in as well as essential oils for aromatherapy uses. The people who run the shop are ever so friendly and will give you advice on which products will best suit your needs.
