International Women’s Day: Breaking the Bias

Celebrating International Women’s Day

Thomas Cook celebrated International Women’s Day this year by opening up the conversation around gender bias. We invited women from all departments across the company to share their experiences on the topic. In the end, we had over five hours of inspiring stories and thought-provoking footage to share. You can listen to the conversations over on our Facebook page.

Catalyst

Catalyst Non Profit

To think that not so long ago in our history, women were not given the opportunity to work or vote sometimes seems like a world away. Today we acknowledge the strong women that have paved the way for change, and we recognise that there is work still to be done. This year we pledged our support to Catalyst, a non-profit organisation that works to build inclusive workplaces for women.

For 60 years Catalyst has been championing equal rights, amplifying the voices of women and underrepresented groups, while deepening the understanding of workplace inclusion worldwide. What does this look like in the real world? Catalyst provides holistic end-to-end solutions that equip companies with the tools they need to make change happen within their organisations.

Donations enable Catalyst to continue this essential work through important research, outreach programs and actionable solutions. Catalyst is an IWD charity of choice which focuses on four key areas:

Advancing Women: Increasing the representation of women, particularly those from racially and ethnically marginalized groups, in corporate leadership and promoting equal access to career opportunities.

Women and the Future of Work: Developing solutions for women and underrepresented groups to have full participation and equal opportunity in the 21st-century workplace.

Lead for Equity and Inclusion: Deepening understanding of workplace inclusion and equipping global companies to remedy inequities across intersections of identity (such as gender, race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, or gender identity).

MARC (Men Advocating Real Change): Engaging men to leverage their influence to advocate for gender equity in the workplace.
