Choose your destination
First thing’s first, you need to pick exactly where it is that you want to get married. This is the fun bit! Where can you picture yourselves making your vows? Is it in a small white chapel in the beautiful Mediterranean or by the lapping, crystal clear waters of the Caribbean sea? Or maybe you’d prefer something a little more lively such as being surrounded by the bright lights of Las Vegas? Once you’ve made the all-important decision, Thomas Cook can help you with the arrangements and make sure everything is in place to make your special day both memorable and stress-free.
The perfect wedding package
No matter what your taste or budget, Thomas Cook has a great range of wedding packages, so there is sure to be one that is just right for you. Each package differs from hotel to hotel, but the basic package tends to consist of all the legal fees, a decorated area of the venue especially for your ceremony, a bridal bouquet and groom’s buttonhole, a wedding cake and some sparkling wine for the toast. Many destinations also offer the option to upgrade your package and add some extra special finishing touches.
One of the most popular wedding destinations that we offer is the tropical paradise of the Caribbean. If this is somewhere that you are interested in setting as the venue for your own wedding, we can help you look into whether or not it is possible to get a free wedding package. Many of the hotels in this area offer free packages to guests, subject to a minimum stay, legal fees and guests booking a minimum number of rooms. We can help to find out what is available to you, based on your own individual needs.
If, however, you are both fully decided on your destination, hotel, flights and dates, then you still need to call our specialist Weddings Team on 0844 871 0670 or pop into your nearest store in order to get everything booked. Our dedicated team will then talk you through all the important things that you need to know about your wedding and add on your chosen package. We will also ensure that you meet all of the various requirements of your chosen destination.
Most destinations have a minimum residency requirement, so we usually suggest that your holiday be a minimum of 14 nights. Not only for minimum residency, but this also gives you a chance to acclimatise, get over any jet lag, relax and get used to your surroundings. And maybe get a nice little tan too!
A non-refundable deposit of £200 per couple is required at the time of booking. This may be higher for certain wedding packages in order to secure a date.
Once you have booked your wedding with us, it may be necessary to wait for a short while whilst we confirm the dates with your chosen destination. In most cases it is within 14 days of your initial enquiry, but with some destinations it could take up to six weeks. Sometimes we need to be able to compare dates with the local registrar and check that they are available, so this might mean that you’ll find out the exact date and time of your nuptials when you arrive at your resort, so it is important that you are able to be flexible in this situation. If your requested date is not available, we will be sure to offer you the best alternative that we can.
Once everything has been confirmed, you will receive a complete wedding package including a step-by-step guide to all the useful information that you will need such as necessary documentation. You will also find details of how you can add those all-important finishing touches to make your upcoming wedding and reception extra special.
The breakdown of what’s included in your wedding package can be found alongside each hotel in the brochure, although in some destinations we can’t include the price of selected elements as these are paid locally. If you are having a free wedding package, some of these may be subject to legal or administration fees, which are also paid locally. Certain destinations may incur additional transport, legal or translation costs, but our Weddings Team will notify you of any additional costs associated with your individual package. Now that everything is falling into place nicely, you might want to start thinking about some finishing touches that will make your big day even more memorable. After you have booked, our dedicated Weddings Team will be your day-to-day contact and will be able to liaise with our resort teams to make sure that everything is in place for your special day. Certain hotels require you to have your reception at the hotel, whereas other may allow you to choose another venue for the after party – we will be able to advise and help you choose the perfect location. Your wedding package will contain details of any other finishing touches that you may want to add on and your wedding co-ordinator or in-resort representative will be able to provide you with other helpful contacts too.

For any legal requirements that you need to be made aware of, our dedicate Weddings Team will talk you through everything, step by step. They will also advise you of any additional costs that you may entail, depending on which destination you choose to celebrate your wedding. Most documentation will need to be sent to our Weddings Team in the UK office at least 10 weeks before you travel, but this can all vary depending on where you will be getting married. We know that some documents may not be issued until 3 months before your return date, so these can be sent to us a little later than the rest.
