Spent week at Kombo Beach and had a fabulous holiday away from the excesses of the UK! Wonderful helpful friendly people both in hotel and out . Visited Action Aid projects to see the superb work they do and to experience the real Gambia , the ferry crossing was an experience all on its own ! The beach fruit and juice sellers provide a great service Alima no 23 made the best plate of mixed sliced fruit It was our lunch most days . Food in the hotel and local restaurants was fine and all good value . There is no pressure from staff for tips or sellers but this is a typical African country where tourism is a main incom source for many .They certainly put on an amazing Christmas Eve Gala dinner and party well done to the staff . We will certainly return to this lovely country.

We have just got back from a weeks holiday staying at the Kombo beach hotel and it really was fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble for all the staff that work there and they always have a smile on their face. The location is right on the beach front and there are loads of free sunbeds and you can even use the hotels beach towels. Breakfast was great and more than enough selection to get you started for the day ahead chilling on the beach. There is always some entertainment on each night and a good selection of bars to drink in. we will certainly be heading back to this hotel again.

We collected our luggage but could find no rep from Thomas Cook to direct us We got a cab to the kombo beach hotel and were welcomed by hotel staff The rep did not contact us in the hotel to discuss why we were left in the airport Or to discuss our return to the airport Great holiday except for the rep

Although we consider ourselves well travelled and were not expecting the quality of European or other world wide 3* I was surprised at the smell of the room and the quality and laundering of the towels. The actual hotel is located on a good stretch of beach. The sea a little rough and current very strong. During the 2nd/3rd weeks of January enormous jelly fish were washed ashore. These disappeared during our 3rd week. The bumsters are just abour tolerable, but the guys at the gate a little overwhelming with their offers of a taxi... also when trying to decide on a restaurant ,competition between the boys trying to lure you in was quite robust. Unfortunately I did suffer quite badly from tummy problems for the full 3 weeks and therefore this had clouded my judgement. I was not overly impressed with the Activity staff, they appeared to concentrate their efforts on the regular long stayers. Any repairs were promptly fixed. Plenty of antibacterial gel required as I have never had my hand shaken or grasped so ofter. Enterainment improved during our stay but found the idea of having to tip the entertainers strange. Suggest anyone holidaying take a fist full of small denomination notes as tipping is endless and expected from the rich brits.
