If you’re lucky enough, you could witness the newborn turtles’ first steps and watch their natural instincts take over as they flee for the water.
History and culture
The charming resort was originally a busy fishing village and although a couple of boats still work from here today, the development of tourism in the area has seen the village grow in size. From the coast you can see the island of Zante, whilst views inland are nestled with thick, green agriculture. Katelios has a relaxed atmosphere, with great maritime traditions set into their way of life.
Food and drink
As well as its serene setting, Katelios is a place where fish are caught daily and the local cuisine is not only fresh, but also delicious. For a memorable day out, venture to the north-west of Kefalonia where you can explore the spectacular ruins of the Castle of Assos. This impressive structure was built in the 16th century.
