Few visitors are aware of the medieval past of Skiathos and the island's religious sites. The Sacred Church of the Archangel can be found after venturing deep into the hills. It's surrounded by greenery and natural springs that were rumoured to have once had healing powers. Admire the scenic views and stroll to the Church of The Virgin Mary nearby, before moving onto the Evangelistria Monastery. The complex was first constructed in the 18th century and has some fascinating history stories, including its role in the evacuation of British soldiers during WW2.
