Temple Of Debod in Madrid
Once stood in the Nile Valley of Egypt, the Temple of Debod is a dramatic monument documenting the long history of Egypt. The temple can be found surrounded by a pool of water in a picturesque green park. The structure was originally built in the 4th century BC in dedication to the god Amun and the goddess Isis. The temple was given to Spain as a gift for their archaeological support preserving the Abu Simbel.
The temple was carefully dismantled in 1969 and rebuilt for public viewing in 1971. Walk through the tall, narrow gateways to explore the museum and see the authentic hieroglyphics carved into the stone in ancient times. Visit in the evening where the temple is illuminated making the views that even more spectacular.
