This hotel is located in the heart of the historic city centre, a few paces from the famous Museum del Prado and La Puerta del Sol. Suite was a disappointment

This was our second time at this centrally located hotel. Plaza Santa Ana is a very nice place to stay. Everything important for a tourist is within a walking distance. In 2015 we stayed in a suite with a huge terrace and a jacuzzi on the 6th floor. Its price has now doubled to over 1000 euros per night which is too much for what you get. So this time we booked Studio ME+ Plaza de Santa Ana Views which is a corner suite on floors 1-5. So there are only five of them. The price was 375 euros per night plus some Melia points. The biggest disappointment was the missing whirlpool bathtub that was mentioned in the room description. The bathroom was quite small, exactly the same size as in standard rooms, and with a normal bathtub. There was a massaging shower located in the tub. The minimum requirement for a suite bathroom is at least having a separate shower and tub. We got our suite from the 1st floor. The waste collection point of Plaza Santa Ana is located in the same corner and was not so pleasant to watch from the living room window. We stayed only two nights and first I decided that I would not complain about the missing whirlpool bathtub. However, the next morning when our Nespresso machine broke and leaked all water over the Maxibar, I sent an email to the Aura Team. I got a quick reply and the Nespresso machine was replaced with a more modern one. However, the Aura Team insisted that we have a whirlpool bath and if we wish, someone can come to instruct us how to use it. We have seen hundreds of jacuzzis in different hotels and we know, if we have it or not. So the instruction would probably have been for the massaging shower. On check-out, even the receptionist knew that only the three best suites on the 6th floor have jacuzzis and they are located outside on the terrace. Breakfast at this hotel is very mediocre. The buffet included no hot food. I have always thought that ME hotels are on the upscale side of the Melia hotel chain directly after Gran Melia hotels. However, even Sol hotels have better breakfasts. The welcome gifts included in the ME+ concept along with the location were the best part of our stay.

Our time at this hotel was amazing in all aspects. The rooms are clean and it feels like everything has been taken care of. Little details made a difference, such as a bottle of champagne when we arrived. All members of staff we met have been extremely helpful and friendly. I’m looking forward to my next stay at this hotel!

Probably the best hotel in Madrid. Amazing location, amazing staff and amazing rooms. From the welcome on arrival to the experience throughout - ME MADRID is one of my favourites. You wont be disappointed with this effortlessly cool hotel.
