When in Madrid, visiting the art galleys and exhibitions is a great way to spend a day. Visit the iconic CaixaForum cultural museum for bizarre architecture and contemporary art exhibitions. The building's structure is spectacular with a bronze top half standing in contrast to a lush, green wall garden.

Take the Paseo del Arte (the Art Walk) along the paved kilometre stretch, which is home to some of the world's finest art galleries like the Prado, the Thyssen Bornemisza and the Reina Sofia. Enter each gallery to see a showcase of stunning sculptures, ancient paintings and contemporary art.

Along the cultured route you'll see cascading fountains, street performers and botanical gardens that were designed over 250 years ago. The route ends with Madrid's Atocha railway station that is structurally stunning with visible iron beams, which contrast to the vibrant, tropical garden. The station has a greenhouse like roof that allows for exotic plants from three continents to thrive in the industrial setting.
