Germany - currency

The Euro (EUR) is the official currency of Germany. Cash is still widely used, especially in smaller shops and traditional markets, though almost every restaurant, hotel and large shop accepts debit and credit cards. Banknotes come in denominations of €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 and €500, while coins range from 1 and 2 euros to 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents.

ATMs are widely available across Germany, particularly in cities and towns, though some may charge fees for foreign cards.
