Globales Tamaimo Tropical is a seafront hotel on the west coast of Tenerife, popular with both couples and families. Playa la Arena, known for its volcanic black sand, is just a short walk away. Here the water is safe for both children and first time swimmers.
The resort has an outdoor area that includes five swimming pools (two for children and toddlers.) You can also relax on the adults-only rooftop sun terrace or in the jacuzzi. Active guests can enjoy a game of table tennis, tennis, billiards or pool. In the evenings, have fun watching a variety of entertainment shows, while children can dance the night away at the junior’s disco. Younger guests can also join the kids' club and make new friends in the playroom and the playground.
The hotel has a buffet restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A special buffet is prepared for the kids, with familiar foods such as pasta and chips. Lovers of Italian cuisine may wish to reserve a table at the a la carte Morrocollo. When you’re feeling thirsty you’ll find a selection of four bars serving soft and alcoholic drinks and if you get peckish between meal times Bar-Barbeque serves a range of snacks as well.
All the air conditioned rooms at Globales Tamaimo Tropical are equipped with a microwave, fridge, satellite TV, hairdryer, safe, sofa bed and either a balcony or terrace. Family apartments can sleep up to six guests across two adjoining rooms.
The centre of Puerto Santiago is 150m from Globales Tamaimo Tropical. In this quiet resort town there are a number of British bars, as well as more typical Spanish tavernas. Within a mile of the hotel there are two cliff-top viewpoints offering spectacular views of the ocean, looking out towards La Gomera. Children will relish a day trip to the nearby Thai-themed Siam Park, which includes a range of slides, rides, a water market and a lazy river.
La Teide is impossible to miss, with its 3,750m summit. Here you can see Paisaje Lunar, as the name suggests it looks like a structure that belongs on the moon but volcanic activity is actually responsible for its formation. There are few places in the world which are better for stargazing, so if you want to look for the Great Bear or the Plough star constellations in the night sky, this is the best place to do it.
