Rethymnon has a proud Venetian heritage, a lot of which can be found at the Venetian Fortress. This ancient structure proudly sits on top of a hill, giving everyone a breathtaking view of the exceptionally picturesque city below.

And then once you step behind the historical walls, you'll find a mix of different cultures which all come together in perfect visual harmony. The main sights that you'll discover include a serene Greek Orthodox chapel that can be found set in a pine wood; plus there's a beautiful mosque that at one time was a Catholic church.

Within a couple of hours, you'll be taken back in time as you find yourself fully immersed in the captivating history.
