Theartemis Palace is on the seafront in the resort of Rethymnon, on Crete's popular north coast. It's a short walk to Rethymnon beach, where you'll find a long stretch of sand running along to a small harbour. The water of the Aegean Sea is shallow here and popular for swimming. The style of the hotel's low-rise buildings reflects local Greek architecture, with covered balconies and traditional terracotta tiled roofs. They're set in grounds that are dotted with trees and centred around the pool area. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool with a shallower area where kids can play and splash. It's screened from the road by trees and is surrounded by a sun deck where you can sit back and relax. There's also an indoor swimming pool, which is heated during the cooler months. You can enjoy all of your meals at the buffet restaurant and take your pick from two bars, including a poolside bar serving drinks and snacks. When you're in need of relaxation you can head to Theartemis Palace's spa to unwind. If you prefer to stay active on your holiday you can enjoy a workout in the gym, have a game of pool or play table tennis. From the hotel, it's a short walk to the centre of Rethymon, which has an old town with winding lanes and ancient buildings. You can look for souvenirs at the market stalls before stopping for a glass of the local drink, ouzo, at a pavement cafÈ. If you fancy exploring further, you can hire a car and discover the rocky coves, horseshoe-shaped bays and seafront fishing villages for which Crete is known.
From Theartemis Palace, it's a 200m walk to the sandy shores of Rethymon beach, which stretches for 12km. It's 900m from the centre of Rethymnon resort, where you'll find a marina lined with traditional Greek tavernas, seafood restaurants and wine bars. You can pick up holiday essentials at the resort's supermarket, which is 100m from the hotel. Inland, Rethymnon is backed by open countryside rising up to hills. You can hike through the groves of olives and lemons to traditional villages. Further afield it's 70km to the harbourside town of Chania, with its boutiques, street stalls and shopping centres. You can explore the resort's Venetian quarter, where you'll find places to eat and drink amid the maze-like lanes of the old town. If you fancy a day trip, a drive of 79km takes you to the island's capital, Heraklion. You can stroll along the waterfront promenade and paddle at the beach, or hop on a ferry from the harbour to visit neighbouring islands.
The buffet restaurant at Theartemis Palace offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, with kids' options available. The pool bar is open during the day, while the lobby bars serves drink from the morning until late at night. You'll find lots of places to try local cuisine in Rethymon, as well as bakeries selling traditional Greek treats.
You can explore Rethymon's ancient fortress or take a boat trip from the marina. The hotel hosts regular evening entertainment and the resort offers lively nightlife.
The neutrally decorated rooms at Theartemis Palace have air conditioning and a fridge. They also come with high-speed Wi-Fi, a TV and a safe. Cots are available.

Poor Bar Service, otherwise Good
We were not impressed with the bar service, the bar is waiting service only & it seems frowned upon to go to the bar & order a drink, if you try you are told to take a seat & they will be over to take your order. This became apparent on the first morning of our 2 weeks holiday when I went to the bar to order, whilst the waitress was explaining how they serve people, a man who was sitting on the customer side of the bar gave me a intimidating 10 seconds stare because I went to the bar. I later discovered that he was a off duty bar man( the guy with the ManBun hairstyle). If orders for drinks were regularly taken by staff bywalking around the pool area this would have been okay, but attracting attention to order seemed to take a long time. Putting this aside the hotel was clean & well maintained . The reception & cleaning staff were very friendly , the restaurant staff were over worked & rushing about too much to be friendly with everyone. The waiting staff were friendly once their attention had been sought.
Location, Location, Location
Recently returned from a 10 night stay. We paid extra for a pool view room and were allocated Room 313 in the main building. What we didn't appreciate is that all the pool view rooms in this building are North facing, so get no sun whatsoever at any time of the day. The rooms facing the pool in the annex over the road get the sun virtually all day, so if you like a sundowner on the balcony, in the sun, then book a room over there. There pool area is nice, but there are not that many beds and those that are there usually have a towel on them or are in the shade (due to the location of the main building). Positives: Good location for exploring the old town, getting to the bus station, very near the beach, VERY comfortable bed and pillows. Room for Improvement (in my opinion): Our bathroom needed updating and a deep clean. Take out the bath (who has a bath on holiday?), put in a shower cubicle and a decent shower (rather than a tap fed one). This would clearly make it easier for housekeeping to keep clean. Provide a proper hairdryer, the contraption in the bathroom had one speed, one setting and was REALLY loud. We were puzzled as to why we couldn't get the safe in the room to work. Having made the trip back down to Reception to ask for assistance we were told that it costs €3 per day. Your Receptionists should tell guests at check-in that there is a daily charge for the safe ....I cannot remember the last time I stayed in a hotel and had to pay for a safe! Sunbeds! Despite MANY complaints about this in previous reviews the issue has still not been rectified. For the first few days of our holiday the staff put out laminated signs on each table by the sunbeds saying reserved towels will be removed after 1 hour if not in use ....we never witnessed a towel being removed by a member of staff. For the remaining few days of the holiday the signs were not even put out. On our last day there were 4 sunbeds next to us, each with a hotel pool towel draped over them (with no other belongings) from 8.00 am until we left the pool area at 4.00 pm! You really need to sort this problem out once and for all .....!
The most beautiful and relaxing holiday
Hereby, I would like to share my very powerful impressions of my most recent stay at Teartemis Palace Hotel in Retimno, Creta. This was the fourth time I stayed at Teartemis Palace Hotel within the last two years. My latest stay in Theartemis Palace Hotel was August this year. In fact, I have just returned few days ago. It is hard to find the right words that would to the full extent describe the feeling that a guest has during his/her stay at Teartemis Palace Hotel. Maybe, the best way of describing the feeling that I had is that, as soon as I walked into the hotel, I felt that I came to my second home. The Guest Relations Manager, Ms. Eleni Kouklinou, and the rest of the staff gave me such a warm welcome and I was emotionally so overwhelmed. This is in fact like a family hotel, where management and every single member of a team, cares very much for individual needs and preferences of each guest and they are trying to do their maximum to make you feel at home and be fully satisfied. Very discreetly, they are following up on you and are keeping an eye on whether you are satisfied and happy with all they have provided, inquiring softly whether there is something else you may need. So, the most important advantage of this hotel is that its entire team has „soul“. They are all so dedicated and always happy to see you back, caring about your neeeds very much througout your entire stay. This is a unique added value that only few hotels have, no matter how beautiful they may be. And Teartemis Palace Hotel definately possesses this special athmosphere of warmth and hospitaliy and caring on individual level. In addition, the hotel itself is a beauty. Its rooms are so nice and always kept very clean, with big balconies and nice view. Food is absolutely delicious. What I would particularly emphasize is a very diversified evening entertainment program that guests enjoy so much. Hotel has all facilities one may need to feel truly comfortable. It is perfectly located, whereby, as soon as you walk out, you have a view on the seaside, and nice sand beaches. Yet, it is only 10 minutes walk to the old town (center). I would definately most highly recommend stay at Teartemis Hotel to all of you who are looking for a holiday without any stress, who are looking for tranquility, peace, pleasure, genuine relaxation. At Teartemis Palace Hotel one will certainly not face any unpleasant surprises. If there is anything particular preference, the superb management would take it into consideration immediately and would do all that is in their power to provide it for every guest. Such approach reflects their way of thinking, their hospitaliy, their exceptional professionalism, which is yet combined with their exceptonally warm approach. Top management is not detached from guests, but on the contrary, they are all out there mingling among guests, taliking to them, helping out, if neeeded. So,it makes you feel like you are part of one large, very functional and loving family. I cannot expresss to what extent I am grateful to management and the entire team of Teartemis Palace Hotel for making once again my stay so enjoyable and peaceful. One simply feels secure while at Teartemis Palace Hotel. One just feels they are there for you at all times. And, because of all this, it is always so hard for me to leave. However, I have a strong vision returning to Teartemis Palace hotel as soon as possible, maybe in September, if my obligations allow it. I wish the team to keep up such an excellent work and to continue growing and adhering to the gold standards of corporative business. Congratulations on all your brilliant achievements.
