What’s the weather like in Zante in May?
Zante is in the Ionian Sea, just off the west coast of southern Greece. This means the island has a typical Mediterranean climate with long hot summers. In May, summer is fast approaching and you’ll get lots of sun and not much rain if you’re going at this time. Temperatures are cooler than in the later months, and this is due to the coastal breezes and north westerly winds that are usually at their strongest in the afternoon. The west of Zante is mountainous, which means you’ll see the most rain in the north west, while beaches in the south east will give you the best shelter from wind and rain.
The average high in Zante is 23ºC in May, which is lovely for relaxing by the pool or at the beach. You should bring a warm jumper for the evenings as things can get quite cool at night. The sea temperature is 19ºC, while humidity’s low. There’s 17mm of rain over six days, and you can expect 14 hours of daylight with ten hours of sunshine each day. Pack plenty of sun cream as UV levels will be very high. Sunset’s around 8.40pm for much of May.
