Great Hotel
A lovely hotel, the staff are mature and experienced in their own area of expertise. They are pleasant, helpful and friendly. Clean and bright rooms and surroundings . We had a swim up pool which was an infinity pool , perhaps not the best idea for the travel agent to sell it in October… too cold. A good buffet , every day we had a favourite dish, very varied. Great snacks between lunch and dinner Good size pool and a play area pool with a slide Traditional holiday entertainment which was fun and made us laugh a lot Location is good to Hisaronu which is full of bars and shops A regular bus service to Fethiye which has a big market and boat trips which are highly recommended A great late holiday break in a good hotel for four very tired adults
Amazing week away and beautiful views
I had a week away staying at Green Forest as a solo traveller and was not disappointed. The rooms and facilities were clean and kept to a good standard (air conditioners could do with being replaced in rooms as they are noisy!) but overall the rooms were clean and tidy. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, I made a life-long friend with Erol Kivrak (entertainment manager) as we have similar interests and had control of the music for a few days too! The pool area was clean and the food (snacks and evening meal) were of a good standard. The views around the hotel are second to none with mountain views to the front and back of the hotel. I will definitely be staying here again.
Cold pool in October
We book this as our first holiday in 3 years because of Covid. We booked the swim up room as it was a well priced upgrade. It was about 1.5 hours from the Dalaman airport, we were provided a sandwich on arrival as we arrived late at night. The room is reasonable and good size for 2 people, I think all the rooms were the same unless you got a family suite. So the upgraded room was just for access to the shared pool. The bathroom was small but had corner shower, sink, hair dryer, shaver plug and toilet - not much room for your things and no storage in the bathroom. The bed room was a good size; telly, mini fridge with water, wardrobe with hangers, bed side tables, desk area, seating, safe in the wardrobe. The 'double' bed was 2 mattresses pushed together and they were uncomfortable, really hard. We asked for more pillows and sheets and they were brought to the room with in a couple of hours. The room was tired and really could do with updating. The swim up room terrace was a good size for 2 sunbeds, it had shading above and you could move to the other side of the shared pool over a bridge. There are 6 rooms that share the pool. When we went first week of October the hotel was quiet and it was only our room and the room next door who had access to our shared pool. I'm sure someone during our stay said they didn't book the pool room but upgraded when they arrived. The pool was not heated during our stay and talking to some of the other guests who had been there since mid September the pool had not been heated then either. The pool was cold! Not cold because it was 32'c and you were getting in the water but so cold it took your breathe away and the only people in the pools were on floats. Its a shame that the pools did not get heated or were able to get heated by the sun through out the day as we thought it would. The hotel is spaced out well for a smaller hotel, the main pool is opposite the snack bar which has shaded seating, and above that is the main buffet restaurant inside. There is a bar with inside seating next to the pool and there is more then enough sun beds. We could have moved beds every hour if we wanted. there were also double sunbeds at the back. There was also pool tables, table tennis, spa and a mini market. There was a pool with 2 water slides but these were only turned on twice during our week stay and we think this was due to request. There was also a kids pool - maybe a foot deep and probably the warmest pool! The food at the hotel was nice, it wasn't amazing or regional cuisine, but there was a good selection and variety for the week we were there. We think most of the guests were predominantly English so they cooked food to please the English. There was hot plates where they did doner kebab - they were really good, we would have preferred to have them most nights. They had 'pasta show' where they would do what ever you want with your pasta and at breakfast they did the same with omelettes. Evening dinner stared at 7.30pm which was late for us. they did 'tea time' from 5-6pm but that was selection of biscuits and then teas and coffees. The snack bar was the best food! it was open from 11 til 4pm and honestly we could have sat there and eaten all day. They did fresh personal sized pizzas with what ever toppings your wanted, burgers, toasties, sandwiches, chips, chicken nuggets and pancakes were amazing - fresh pancake with loads of sugar which you could have chocolate sauce, fresh squeezed lemon juice or there was traditional cheese and potato. All this is included. the mini market and spa are extra and the drinks after 12pm were not included. There was an entertainer but it was not forceful, not too loud and don't last for ever so if you didn't want to take part you didn't have to. They did games mid morning, mid afternoon most days and then in the evenings starting about 9pm they would have bingo, films, games etc. The lobby was open always and they always tried to help. The staff did not speak English very well so sometimes was difficult. there was a luggage room and use of showers if you had a late flight. Check out was 12. There was a bookcase with books from the guests too. The manager was very approachable and you could see the manager all around the hotel. There was a free bus that takes you to the Blue Lagoon Beach at 11am and will bring you back at 5pm. Taxi's could be called to the hotel for you and it costs 80 turkish lira to the beach and 60 turkish lira to the Ölüdeniz Babadağ Teleferik cable car. The blue lagoon beach was good and full of people. there is the shops and restaurants before the actual beach and then walking down to the end of the spit of land there are spas, restaurants and bars along the way. There are boat rides and scuba driving. You have to rent sunbeds to use for the day which was 120 turkish lira for 2 beds and an umbrella. The food looked good and priced well - felt more local than the hotel. The Ölüdeniz Babadağ Teleferik cable car took you to the top of one of the mountains that surrounded the area of the hotel. You can see the top of this mountain from the main pool at the hotel. It was 80 turkish lira per person to take the cable car up to 1700 meters. There was a chair lift that took you to 1800m and 1900m but it was not operating when we went. So we walked up the road to the very top of the mountain - well worth the walk. Took about 45 minutes to walk up to the top, there are mini buses that take people to the top but these are mainly for the para-gliders. There is a restaurant at 1700, 18000 and 1900 but the only one open when we went was the main one at the main level 1700 meters. There was not much else to do in Oludeniz so definitely a quiet holiday. You could walk from the hotel in to the town which had shops and restaurants. It was a beautiful area surrounded by mountains, the town was pretty clean too. Overall our feel was that the hotel could have been better - the room could have been better the food could have been better at the buffet (snack bar was perfect), we were disappointed with the pool being so cold. The staff were friendly but the communication was difficult with Turkish and English being so different languages. We like that it was quiet and no kids, we would have preferred more things to do near the hotel to break it up a bit. We would not stay more than a week. The weather in October is good as it is highs of 30'c and lows of 25'c little bits of over cast and spots of rain.
