Appalling!
Avoid My partner and I booked a double deluxe room at the Dogan Hotel and arrived on Thursday. When the hotel staff realised we were a same sex couple we were given a very dirty standard room at the back of the hotel with very little light and a view of the alleyway.
Lovely friendly hotel
Just spent a few days at this hotel, first time in Turkey. I arrived on a very dark, rainy Saturday night. Was greeted with a warm welcome and then a delicious buffet dinner. My room was comfy and very clean. It overlooked the space at the front of the hotel, this can be a bit of a gathering place and can be loud at night (take earplugs - problem solved!) Following morning another delicious spread for breakfast - the staff are very attentive and quickly realised I don't want my coffee straight away. Little bits of attention to detail like this are a sign that you are not just another guest. The hotel cat, Shazir, 16 years young (at least) will tour the restaurant seeking out fuss and/or food. If you don't like cats let the staff know and they will do their best to shoo her away (TBH if you don't like stray cats maybe don't come to Antalya they are everywhere) The night before I flew home I managed to misplace my passport - at no time did I think it was stolen but I went to reception to ask if it was there. They were concerned and checked - nope not there. Back to my room, passport located I then went back down to reception (Bestemia - probably spelt his name wrong - sorry) was very kind, offered me a tea to help me calm my frazzled nerves. Top tips for Antalya Out the front door - turn right, walk up and up - takes you to the castle and best spots to watch the sunset Out the door - head straight up - takes you into the heart of the old city Out the door - left and left again - takes you down to the Marina and Hotel Puding Food - hotel buffet or Hotel Puding Food market - Wednesdays only - worth the walk Ride the red tram Avoid the Old Town Umbrella restaurant - they will rip you off and argue about it When ordering food, take a picture of the menu (showing the price) and never ask for something without seeing it on the menu - others were seriously ripped off Food at Antalya airport is offensively expensive 4 euros for a bottle of water anyone?
A friendly hotel in a central location
We have just come to the end of a five day stay at the lovely hotel. The staff are very kind and helpful, always happy to accommodate. We stayed on a half board basis. The food was tasty although the choice was sometimes a bit limited. The location is great, right in the middle of the old town with a short walk down to the marina. It's quite lively at night but quietens down by midnight. We would definitely stay here again.
