Disgusting!!!!
Soon as I arrived i went to have lunch amd flies were all over the place ..when I see one drop in the yogurt bowl I was horrified !!! Do not waste your money the place is filthy!!!food is awful !I decided to go have some salad in the evening and when I asked for a spoon that was missing the waiter took out a spoon from a plastic container what was not fit to even wash your feet in ...I decided to confront the manger who was rude and told me they only use that container to collect the used cutlery ..i told him that container needs to go in the bin he was rude and ubrupt...God knows what's behind the back and what they use to cook with ...I tried to talk to guest relations but was told their isn't one lol place is a joke and is dead no entertainment nothing ..it should be shut down and cleaned mould all over the bathroom floor ...disgraceful! I'm waiting to talk to the agency I booked from and leave as I can't spend another night here ..avoid do not waste your money !!!!
Nice Hotel, could be excellent with a few tweaks.
Overall a nice hotel, with a few tweaks it could be excellent. Firstly it is nowhere near a 5 star rating so don't go if you are expecting it to be. Rooms : nicely furnished and clean on arrival, water, toiletries and coffee making things topped up daily, fridge and air con both worked well. Balcony was small but functional. Our room was lovely and quiet but some rooms back on to a local karaoke bar which is very noisy until late. Staff : Not over friendly until they get to know you, once they do they can't do enough for you ( it took a few days of smiles and hello's from us) they were however always polite. Food : Typical all inclusive , no better than 3 star hotels I have stayed in. Lots of choice in the cold buffet, not so much on hot side. Every meal there was a chef at the outside grill area cooking eggs, bread, fish, chicken or kebabs. Dining area is outside, it's lovely but there are a lot of sparrows so if you left your plate they would be all over your food ! A big negative is they allow smoking in the dining area and it seemed smokers were in the majority in this hotel and at times was just too much ( I'm not generally too bothered by this) Pool : Two pools, both very nice with plenty of sunbeds, the fun pool played ridiculously loud music which was still very very loud at the relaxing pool, I wasn't overly bothered but my partner found it quite annoying. Pool bar area was nice, I would imagine it difficult to find a seat in high season as not very big. Bar : This opened at 6pm, this was the most disappointing aspect of the hotel, it is basically a night club blaring out Turkish style club music so loudly early in the evening that nobody sits inside and you struggle to chat when outside. It is slightly away from the hotel and feels like it is not part of it. It is located on a busy / noisy road and most evenings only a handful of people used it. It would work as a club later on in the evening but as a bar to relax and chat it was terrible , this would be the sole reason for me not using this hotel again. Everything else was nice / good for the price we paid. Location : Good for us, in just 5 mins there were bars etc. In 10 mins you were at the main strip / seafront. The road is quite busy with major roadworks at present . Overall a good hotel for what you pay.
Had a really lovely holiday at The Mandarin
Just back from the most wonderful two week holiday in Bodrum, staying at the Mandarin Resort. We loved the hotel, there is something special about it that seems to rub off on to the guests making it one of the friendliest places I have ever stayed. Yes, it doesn't warrant the 5 stars and yes, it is a bit tired and could do with a bit of a re-vamp but it does have a certain charm. When I told my daughter some of the stories of people that we met she said, it sounds like you stayed at 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' hahaha. Our room (a family room) was really nice, although a little tired. The food was great, and enough choice for us, the chef and his assistants were brilliant and were so good to me (I'm a coeliac) letting me know every day which foods were gluten free. The staff are all lovely and can't do enough for you, they work so hard. It's the first time that I've tipped so many. I'd say, if you want 5 star luxury then pay the extra for it at one of the more up market resorts and if you want more choice of food English Breakfast, Sunday roast maybe, then go somewhere that caters for that. Honestly, I would go back to this hotel in the blink of an eye and would have no hesitation about going alone either, as I know, I would feel safe and it wouldn't be long before I was chatting away to someone.
