Amazing stay in Zilwa paradise

Review We have recently returned from a 2 week stay at Zilwa Attitude and we would definitely recommend this hotel for couples and families alike. The resort is a good size and never felt cramped even at the busiest service times in the restaurants. The food was very very good in all restaurants (we did not eat at Kot Nou as we didn’t fancy the food looking at the menu) and even though we were there for 2 weeks we never got bored of the food served as there was so much variety each night. We found the staff absolutely amazing and provided the best service level at all times. A special shout out to Niraj at the pool bar who was incredible, never let us have an empty drink before bringing a new one over and was a great laugh. The boat club was great, it was so nice to be able to take out paddle boards/kayaks etc with so much ease and included in the AI package. We also booked the Catamaran trip with the boat house and we had a great day, another special mention to the crew of skipper Steve and Jeremy, they were a great laugh throughout the day and served up a fantastic BBQ. We did book a few excursions however we booked through Big John who walks the beach daily, the trips were great and we found the prices much more competitive than our tour operator. We were there for New Year’s Eve and the hotel really put on a great show to cater for everyone’s requirements. We had the best massage in the spa (Zilwa Massage) and the relaxing feel of the spa only added to the experience further. We did find the rooms a little basic compared to what we have experienced at other hotels but this does reflect the island feel that hotel are looking to achieve. We did find the bed very hard the first night and had little sleep however after speaking to the manager Joy in the morning the hotel put a mattress topper on the bed within a couple of hours and this sorted the problem for us. The beach is a man made beach white crushed shell like sand and the hotel provide beach shoes for the duration of your stay to prevent feet getting cut on some sharper rocks/areas as you go into the sea. For us we are not beach people and preferred to spend our time around the pool so this wasn’t so much of an issue for us but if you wanted to spend a lot of time on the beach this could be something to think about.

We contacted a travel agent Tropical Sky about our budget and what destination choices we could pick over New Year. We had already heard great things about Mauritius and their hospitality from friends and family so when we confirmed this as our honeymoon destination our expectations were high. Zilwa Attitude was our first choice out of all their hotels as the pictures and restaurant choices looked the best for our budget. When we first walked through the entrance at Zilwa the view took our breath away, the blue skies, white sandy beach and islands in the distance really did confirm it as the ‘Instagram’ picturesque hotel we had hoped for! The staff were nothing but helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived living up to the islands hospitable reputation. We were slightly worried that picking a family style hotel over adult only would be a mistake but there were so many areas including the 3 different pools, 2 areas of beach, private island visit and snorkelling boats that if we wanted to have a ‘child free’ experience it was easy enough to do so! What can I say about the food! We are proper foodies back home and other European all inclusives we had used in the past left a lot to be desired but the food was second to none. The options for breakfast, lunch and dinner were insane we over 7 places to choice to eat. We also had a honeymoon meal on the beach at the fine dining restaurant Lor Disab and it was so fresh, the flavours fantastic and presentation like we were at a Michelin star restaurant. We also enjoyed the private island with hammocks at Gran Zil were the bbq Dorado fish was like butter in your mouth :) This hotel by far smashed our expectations out the window, it great value for money. I think it’s now set a very high bar in our heads for future holidays, we may just have to come back soon!
