This hotel is still living in the 80s and in need of refurbishment badly. On arrival we were given the briefest of guided tour by a young lady that hardly spoke English and didn't answer any of our questions as we think she didn't understand. The buildings all have loose or cracked floor tiles especially on the stairs. Decking around the entertainment area is starting to rot and won't last much longer. Entertainment was very hit and miss especially aqua fitness. When asked entertainment team didn't appear to interested, there is also a Kappa entertainment team that are only there to entertain the French and are hostile to all others to the point of making us feel unwelcome. The food at times was good but mostly was luke warm or cold in the main buffet. The other restaurants were available but spaces were very limited and came at an extortionate additional cost as were most of the drinks. A lot of the waiting staff struggled with English and most of the older staff were quite rude at times. Location is great right on the coral beach and the water sports included are very good. Downside to this is hotel is very isolated and a 1 hour taxi drive is needed to get to any places of interest

Pick and Choose Inclusive

So where to start: at this Pick and Choose Inclusive. STAFF: with the exception of one or two of the staff, the staff are arrogant, rude, and at best moody. There are far too many clipboard holders and not enough staff to do the jobs these idiots want so i suggest they see it needs doing then do it your self and stop hanging around the bar area ALL INCLUSIVE: So if you want all Inclusive do not pick this hotel, it is a Pick and Choose inclusive. So what do we mean by that? Well, it starts on your arrival when you told not everything is all-inclusive and that most of the things you pick they choose to put a price on it as extra from Drinks to Food FOOD: WELL THE LESS SAID THE BETTER. The Cinnamon Restaurant is the main restaurant and olny produces below standard food for breakfast lunch and tea. What food is left from lunch normally ends up as tea at night there is very little chose there are no chips and potatoes are none existent HOW EVERif you want to eat in the Pomela Restaurant or the Coco or even the Secret room and pay the extra cost of a 1400rupee for gaint prawn or 2300rupee for a pittance of a BBQ and other such things you are more then encouraged to by the staff. Yes the Al Carte is nice but beware the pick and choose trap SWIMMING POOL: IS UNSAFE IN PLACES the boarding needs ripping up and replacing (this is a serious issue) the pool needs the mould and boarding inside replacing in fact it needs urgent work BAR INDIGO: Well all i can say is poor quality of chose and if you want a drink be prepared to wait upto 20+ minutes for it or better still when you get you drink order your next one because all the clipboard idiots will be taking the staff off there to do other jobs. HOTEL: Doesn't no what it should be B&B. HALF BOARD. FULL BOARD OR ALL INCLUSIVE and this is where all the confusion starts as you have to give your room number and sign for everything and the staff are unable to control it. ROOMS: ALL NEED UPGRADING and are tired. THE GARDENS ARE WONDERFUL

Our stay was absolutely fabulous. Not only is the resort beautiful and clean but the people working there and managing the place made the stay very enjoyable. I specifically found Chris, Urvi and Aniket ( at the bar) really helpful. Their high energy and welcoming nature served us well during the stay. Merci, merci, merci for all of the staff at Solana Beach, we had a ball! See you soon!
